Pretty impressive numbers from the US leg of the tour.
Yankee Stadium alone made 13 million. whoa baby.

The Billboard Boxscore has been updated and now includes the first batch of MDNA Tour dates in North America, from the opening night in Philadelphia on August 28 to the concerts in Vancouver at the end of September, including as usual several back-to-back arena dates.
Once again,
Attendance met capacity and therefore therefore all concerts are registered as sold out.

Towering over the American dates are the concerts at the Yankee Stadium on September 6 and 8 with a massive
Attendance of 79,775 and a total gross of 12.600 $ (12,599,540). In Canada, the monstre-date is the show at the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City on September 1st with its 70,569 spectators and a gross of 8,100 $ (8,098,292)

Congrats Madonna for raking in the cash and especially to the people in the city of Quebec who bought the $583 dollar seats! Way to help out!

On another note, I met a woman tonight who looked exactly like what I imagine Madonna would look like if she hadn't done all that stuff she did to her face (hairstyle circa "Rain" 12" leaning more toward brown than blonde). I was completely entranced by this and wish Madonna had beat our culture's presumptions about aging by some other way than denying it. I think I also kind of stared at the woman's face while we were talking and later when she was talking to somebody else.

Do you think she assumes I'm straight now?

I saw the second Vancouver show, last Sunday. Surprisingly, I don't have much to say. I did (mainly) really enjoy the actual show--it was much better put together than Sticky and Sweet and had a lot of great moments (I admit, as much as her shooting people thing bugs me, Gang Bang was one of the highlights). I'm glad I went. I'm also glad I didn't pay nearly double what I paid for the next (top) price range--which started just two rows in front of us.

The audience was decent for a Madonna show--better than ones I've gone to in the past, but definitely not sold out (I did hear Saturday's was mostly sold out).

The bad: She was late. Yes, I know, people always say "what do you expect" but she was never this late in my past experience. Martin Solveig finished his set (which was pretty strong) around 9:30 it seemed. Madonna finally came on stage at *10:50*. Oh well. (A couple brought a girl who looked to be around ten. She was dancing like crazy to Solveig, and as my friend predicted, was completely passed out and dead to the world by the time Madonna came on.).

Like most recent dates, we did get Love Spent which was great to hear live--I have no idea why she didn' include it from the start since nearly everyone seems to see it as a highlight.

She also cut two numbers, that she had done the night before. One was Holiday--which I would have liked to have heard. (Apparently she yelled at the audience the night before that they weren't into Holiday enough so maybe that's why she cut it--she also claimed that we were a much better audience than Sat. Which may have been true, largely because Saturday's performance had a ton of corporate seats). The other cut song was her bizarre version of Like a Virgin, which I didn't miss at all.

I'm glad I went. It was nowhere near the excitement I felt when I saw Confessions--but I liked that album better, and it was my first time seeing her, so it's hard to judge fairly, I suppose. I wouldn't have travelled further than Vancouver to see her though.

"Apparently she yelled at the audience the night before that they weren't into Holiday enough ..."

That rings true and that's why the fans love her! She is who she is and she charges what she wants and she shows up when she wants! And she looks great for her age!

When I offered a semi-friend, who is a Madonna nut, my review--which I thought was largely positive, he basically threw a fit when I mentioned how extremely late she showed up. How that was just her proving her power and worth, and I just didn't get it, bla bla...

It's remarkable. What MisterMatt writes as parody is what the True Believers really say.

Her lateness is absurd in the US, it seems to be getting later and later. I can understand in outdoor venues when she needs it to get dark before starting due to the opening of the show, but indoors there is no excuse. In London she had to be on by 8.30pm due to the curfew (which would cut her at 10.30pm), it did spoil the show a bit though because it was outdoors and pure daylight when she came on which meant some of the visuals were lost.

Also (just before Namo jumps on it like a rabid dog) if you watch the video of Holiday from that night she is laughing and joking when she says that. Also Namo you do know the $583 you are throwing around is for very very top price seats rights? 90 percent of the audience would not have paid that.

And no matter what you say about her ticket costs its impressive that she is still selling out. People are still turning up and attendance is very high. The amount she has played to in venues (89.000 recently) is staggering. Unlike the new 'Queen of Pop' Lady Gaga who is downsizing shows (moving from 60.000 capacity stadiums to sports halls at 9.000) and playing to half empty stadiums like Twikenham in the UK which was half sold out and and sold last minute tickets for £15. For someone who gets the amount of attention she does and the fact that Madonna is apparently over (according to Namo) what Madonna is pulling in even at high prices is impressive. Eric, glad you enjoyed the show, the pics the crew posted of the night you were there (guessing the 30th?) show the arena sold out so im guessing if they were seats left they cant of been that many (see bwlow)

Madonna is not over as a legacy artist. Madonna is clearly over as a creative artist. She's just not that into it. Good for her for having loyal fans like you who turn up and shell out whatever she wants you to pay because she's worth it.

"And no matter what you say about her ticket costs its impressive that she is still selling out. People are still turning up and attendance is very high." There's a difference between very high attendance and selling out. Which is why they go to such lengths to maintain that her dates are sell-outs when they are not. In my opinion, it doesn't matter in the least. But it does seem to be the lifeblood of Madonna's handlers and her die-hard supporters through thick and thin.

Madonna on Ellen for a sit down interview with Rocco on Monday October 29th!

Also- did anyone see Madonna on Conan yesterday? Heard it was funny.

And um- MDNA is bouncing around the charts again this week.
MDNA finally hit gold last week in the US.

The album re entered the charts about 3 weeks ago, this week it's fallen out of the top 200 again but will probably be back in next week thanks to her appearance on Ellen. The Conan thing was very funny. The album is the 7th biggest selling album of the year, so much for calling it a flop.
