What other televsion shows could be made into a musical?

Notice I didn't say *good* musical. Just a musical. But I read an article about how this may be the new trend seeing that The Addams Family is this supposedly critic-proof hit. It got me to thinking about other classic shows that someone may want to bring to Broadway.

Thoughts?

Also, the current Broadway musical THE ADDAMS FAMILY is NOT based on the 1960's TV series (or the 2 film adaptations).

The Broadway musical adaptation of THE ADDAMS FAMILY is based on the characters created by Charles Addams as they appeared in THE NEW YORKER.

EXCEPT... the Addams characters (as drawn above) had no names. The names "Gomez, Morticia, Pugsley, Wednesday, Fester, Lurch, etc." were created by the writers of the TV show.

Since television series tend to emphasize continuing character over plot, I'd say leave a poor idea alone and base musicals on books, plays or even film scripts. These properties have (or ought to have) a beginning, middle and an end.

The shows might even work provided they are adaptations and not verbatim translations i.e. Saturday Night Fever or Urban Cowboy and even Billy Elliot.

Plot is always the failing point of tv shows adapted to other mediums.
