Posted: 11/13/09 at 11:55amThe only opportunity I'll have to see this is the weekend of December 6th. Who knows, maybe I'll fly out to Chicago. I wanted to see the interior of the Oriental Theatre when I was in Chicago in September, but it was closed for pre-production of The Addams Family.

Posted: 11/13/09 at 12:49pmI'm not seeing the show until January, so I might miss out on some numbers that are changed or cut. I was happy I got to see early previews of Spamalot before they cut the other two Lady of the Lake numbers.

Posted: 11/13/09 at 5:45pmThe most interesting thing is that I haven't noticed much buzz about this show around the city. When I talked to my parents about the show (they see quite a bit of theatre, especially national tours), they had no idea what I was talking about. When I said it was a musical of Te Addams Family premiering here, they weren't interested at all. Then they were surprised to hear Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth's involvement in the show and jumped at the chance to buy tickets. And these are people who love Broadway musicals, attend pretty regularly, read the Tribune and watch the local news daily. I've noticed this reaction from several of my friends as well. I've actually recently heard buzz on the street about Young Frankenstein from those reacting to advertising, but not a peep about The Addams Family.

Heo - there are student tickets - $25 each, purchasable on the day of the show. (Don't quote me on that last bit though - I didn't take time to fully read the sign, but that's how it usually works.)
And you'll have to wait until tonight for the full cast/song list - they didn't hand out playbills last night, nor were they selling any merchandise yet.

They're the mother and father of Wednesday's boyfriend. I imagine they have some kind of ulterior motives, like getting the Addams fortune. Seems odd they cast Mann and Carmello as the straight men of the piece. They both scream villain.
