Bringing this post back because I had the best stage door experiences last month:

MATILDA - Alison Luff and Lesli Margherita were just awesome. I also got to meet and talk to Rileigh, my Matilda that night, and her mom who were super sweet.

FUN HOME - First of all, I had sent Sydney Lucas and Gabby Pizzolo some candy from Chile (where I am from) and a letter back in June telling them I might be seeing the show soon. When I told Gabby my name she said: We were JUST wondering when exactly you were coming! Then she signed some Matilda stuff I had from when she was in the show and was so sweet to me. When I saw Sydney, as soon as I said my name she started screaming: IT'S AMPI, SHE CAME! And asked her dad: "Can you take a picture of us? She sent us a bunch of candy from Chile!" So he took a picture with his own phone. I thought it was awesome they knew who I was!

MAMMA MIA! - I had also sent fanmail to Elena Ricardo, who plays Sophie a few months ago. As soon as I said my name she also knew exactly who I was, and told me it was so cool that I had come from so far away and that she always "brags about my fanmail" and hugged me. Then she told me she was gonna finish signing everyone's playbill and then she'd take me backstage! I was not expecting that at all! She showed me around and we took a picture on the stage, it was perfect, she was incredibly sweet to me. She said it was the least she could do for me.

These experiences were the highlight of my trip!

So jealous of everyone you met, especially Sydney and Alison! It's adorable that Sydney remembered that. :)

Every so often there was a rare moment of perfect balance when I soared above him.

Daniel Radcliffe at How to Succeed.  I took my two young daughters, and they were determined to stage door.  My youngest was getting a bit crushed in the crowd, and I picked her up, ready to just get out of the madness.  He saw us struggling, saw me moving to get her out of the increasing screeching tweens, and told his bodyguard to "help the girl".  He was very nice to her, signed her Playbill, and really went above and beyond.  Class act.

*The first time I saw The Book Of Mormon, it was really cold out, and I had seen a Saturday matinee, so most of the cast stayed inside. Andrew Rannells was the only one to come out and sign autographs that day, and he took his time with everybody. The guy standing next to me said, "I'm obsessed with you!" and he was just like, "Aww, thank you." He complimented my hat, and I wanted to ask for a photo, but I wasn't quick enough. My mom and I were about to go get lunch when she noticed him crossing the street and asked if I wanted to try and get that photo, which of course I did. So I ran across the street and asked for a picture, and he stopped and smiled for the camera and was so gracious. And now, just like that guy who was standing next to me, I'm obsessed with him too. (While I'm here, everyone I've met from BOM has been incredibly nice, especially Nikki M. James.)

*I saw It's Only A Play in its final week, and it was raining that night. T. R. Knight still asked everyone their names, shook everyone's hands, and replied with, "Hi, I'm T.R."

*Not an encounter with anyone IN the show, but still one of my favorite stage door experiences: My friend and I saw the final performance of The Producers and went to the stage door afterwards. This was my first time ever waiting at a stage door. I didn't even know the stage door was a thing. We didn't have Sharpies, and some of the performers didn't have Sharpies either, so a girl standing nearby let us share hers. We chatted as we were waiting for people to come out, we exchanged MySpace information (yup...MySpace), and we continue to stay in touch.

Ali is definitely one of the sweetest people to meet.

No exactly stage door but all the comments about Alison Luff reminded me of one time when I was trying for the Matilda Lottery. Alison was there with her her parents and brother also for trying the lottery -  so they needed 3 tickets. Somehow a bunch of us were just chatting (as you often do when you wait for a lottery drawing)  and she realized that I was trying for just 1 lottery ticket. So when 2 of her family members won the lottery for a total of 4 tickets, she dragged me over and said I could have their extra ticket. So not only did I see the show, I got to sit with Alison's mother who was equally nice. Going above and beyond.

On her last weekend in Wicked in Nashville she won lotto for me for one of the shows(however I didn't know it and went to a Rachel Potter concert instead where I ended up meeting Emma Hunton). Both her parent are super nice as are her brothers.

I just sent it to the Broadhurst!

And yes to everyone's comments about Alison, she's awesome. When she was signing my stuff I wouldn't stop talking, she looked at me and said: Chile, right? I had tweeted telling her I was coming from there and she totally recognized me. I thought that was awesome, like she actually cares.

I went to Opening night of La Cage and was standing outside when David Hyde Pierce came out.  He stood and talked to us for awhile.  What a nice guy!

I met David Hyde Pierce twice and he is the best! The second time was after the off-Broadway musical The Landing, and we were the only ones who waited for him and he talked to me and my family for like 5 minutes. Very nice guy and such a big fan of his!

When I stage door'd for The Assembled Parties, Judith Light was so kind and happy to converse with everyone there at the stage door. I'm a very shy person, but she was so friendly and approachable that I actually engaged in a conversation with her about the performance and she seemed to be genuinely interested I what I had to say. It felt good and it was a RARE nice experience.

"Mostly, I loved the size of these people's emotions. Nobody has emotions this size anymore. Outsized emotions. Operatic emotions. Kushemski and Vanda are like Tristan and Isolde, they're Paolo and Francesca. Nobody's in total thrall like this anymore. Nobody's overcome by passion like this, or goes through this kind of rage." Judith Light and Tyne Daly are the two greatest actresses to encounter the stage door.

I saw Chicago back in June with Brandy and stage dooring was awesome. The crowd was kind of rowdy, but the security were good at keeping everyone calm. Some ensemble trickled out and were surprised when people wanted them to sign their playbills and were so kind. Brandy came out and there was screaming and cheering. She signed for a few people, moved towards me, and then a voice called "mom?" She turned and standing a few yards away was her daughter and a group of her friends. She practically leapt across the sidewalk and freaked out. Apparently they don't see each other much? It was adorable. And then when she came back she took my face into her hands, hugged me, and asked how I was and if I enjoyed the show. She was honestly so kind and nice and seemed to care so much about every person there.
