Waddayamean Hollyweird makes awful comedies? The Good Earth, The Grapes of Wrath, They Shoot Horses Don't They, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, Antichrist...I could go ON AND ON. If you don't like the comedies, then it's probably your sense of humor. I'm just being honest, but that's how I feel. Fact. End of.

If you doubt Eddie Murphy's talent as a leading man in comedies, I suggest you check out "The Nutty Professor" remake, "Trading Places", or the more recent Netflix vehicle "Dolemite is My Name".
I do not think they make that many comedies, romantic comedies or dramas anymore. Adult pictures seem to be made for cable and streaming platforms. I think the demographic for major movie viewing skews towards younger people since there is more money to be made and the films tend to be action or fantasy oriented.
King of Staten Island is probably one of the best comedies out there

There was time when they were so commonplace: Father of the Bride, Postcards From The Edge, Pretty Woman, Baby Boom, While You Were Sleeping, Annie Hall, Four Weddings and a Funeral and one of my favorites, Defending Your Life....now they are very infrequent....I think the last one I saw was Long Shot which was solid but not in the ranks of the afore mentioned pictures.
Here are some American comedies and comedy-dramas released in 2019, all of which I liked, and some that are among my favorite films of the year. So, needless to say, I think the question posed by the OP is a stupid one.

Every movieon my list, including DOLEMITE,had a theatrical release."
But they were not all made by Hollywood studios. But your list was quite complete and I admit that I remembered Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Which I adored after my original post. I thought about Late Night but remembered it was produced by Amazon.
Seems you could have avoided calling the original post stupid....rather mean on your part.
