Come on, Harris--I think you know my tastes are far from 19-year-old thong-wearers as a guy's can get. Hello? Remember me?
I just think the Cubby schtick is unfunny--like some old joke about a Borscht Belt booking agent in a 1960s Neil Simon comedy that isn't funny anymore.
I think it is clever and it may help them. And for those who say it is not the little show that could/ underdog/little guy compared to Passing Strange and ITH....what are you talking about? Xanadu is totally the homegrown little guy. ITH is produced by to of the biggest Broadway producer currently working. The same team that put out Rent, White Christmas, Avenue Q. It maybe a new writing team but they are about as big time corporate as Broadway producers get unless you are talking about Disney and Passing Strange is produce by the Shuberts and Elizabeth McCann both of whom are total old guard producers who have been around for years. With the Shuberts being the most powerful people in the American theatre. Xanadu is totally the little guy and admire them for coming up with an idea to help themselves compete with the big dogs. I think the Cubby video has helped people give the show new consideration since it came out so long ago.
