This surprises you PUGLIST? Most of the musicals that recently came out, barely advertise that fact that they were musicals.
If you watch the U.K. trailer , there are clips of Meryl singing and it also says "Based on the World-Wide Smash-Hit Musical"...
So over in the U.K. many are clearly under the impression that it is too a musical, here in the U.S.; maybe not so much. Have to remember the average movie goers do not like musicals!

Obviously this is not right. Christine mentioned "Waterloo" in an interview and this is not in here.
That is the track listing for the single-disc version. Though it hasn't been posted yet, a Special Edition is also being released which will include the instrumental versions of several songs (the songs that were cut but their instrumentals were still used in the film) as well as the 2 songs at the end credits/curtain call: "Dancing Queen" and "Waterloo".
Here is the speculated track listing for the Special Edition of the soundtrack:

Hope that helped clear-up some confusion and no... no word yet if the cover art will be different for the Special Edition. I obviously will keep y'all posted.
Many film soundtracks have done this -- the single-disc version being a 'highlights' recording and the 2-disc Special Edition being the 'deluxe edition' with all the music.
The original film soundtracks to RENT, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and DREAMGIRLS did this, too. SWEENEY TODD released 2 different single-disc versions of the soundtrack -- a 'highlights' and a 'complete edition'.
About how much difference will the prices be? About a $5 diff? Are the I Have a Dream versions different? Cause there's one on the single disc and two on the special edition.
No word yet on pricing (shouldn't be that much more), and yes... both versions (like in the stage-version) of "I Have a Dream" are different. Both the stage-version and film-version end with the long instrumentation which ends the show/film.
If pricing is an issue between purchasing either version of the soundtrack, one word of advice -- start saving your pennies now for the 2-disc version. By the time it is released, you'll be covered.
The single-disc version of the soundtrack is simply for those average folk who don't really care. The 2-disc Special Edition is for those who want ALL of the music heard in the film.
Thanks. I was asking because I have never heard any of the songs from "Mamma Mia", except the title song and Dancing Queen, and I kinda want to get my money's workth, you know? I have heard the song I Have A Dream in the trailers and I kind of like it.
They could be living under a rock or a place where ABBA is not encouraged cause it is EVIL AND IS SATAN'S MUSIC!!!!! No I am just kidding. I love the Album cover and the little audio snippets on the new website!!!
"I think lying to children is really important, it sets them off on the right track" -Sherie Rene Scott-
I'm seriously considering blowing this joint and moving to Greece now...everything about this film just makes me happy...and I really have never had any desire to see the stage show
I personally think the cover art is pretty cute. A forced, fake kind of cute; but I still like it none the less (and especially for Dominic Cooper's awkward pose...rawr!).
Your aspirations are your possibilities-Samuel Johnson (and a little help from nomdeplume)
I would like to hear it but I want to hear the movie versions first. Sometimes when I listen to certain versions first, I get so used to them, that I think other versions aren't as good. I am looking forward to the album... I've just never heard their music before.
I know many people on here have the Soundtrack already and won't share and that is fine....but, does anyone know where you can hear more samples from the movie or download them (besides the website)?
Thanks in advance!
