Hmm. Interesting. That'd most likely mean the next few seasons are going to mainly comprise of adaptations, jukebox musicals and revivals, no? Huh. Where are all those original works??

I feel like people just copy/paste this several times every season.  We get more revivals of this particular moan than we do of any revivals or jukebox shows on Broadway.  And yet somehow, we still get original works every single season.

The opening was glorious IMO and the closing was emotional, but it needed a Rose and a Jack to care about.

I didn't need a Jack or Rose.  In particular, the ludicrous cliched and contrived fictitious plot that was devised for the film is what turned me off about it.  With all the amazing true stories of the passengers aboard the ship, it seemed rather insulting that they felt the need to center the film on that idiotic story.

I much preferred the narrative structure of the musical (mostly based on the best film regarding the topic, A Night to Remember) and I did care about the characters.  Probably because we learned more about the actual people who were on the ship than the treacley adventure flick released later the same year.  What the musical did so well was capture the hearts and minds of so many characters across the spectrum of passengers on board, knowing that the audience was all too aware of the fate of the ship and most of those passengers.  I find it odd that someone would fail to feel an emotional connection to songs like Lady's Maid, The Proposal/The Night Was Alive, We'll Meet Tomorrow, Still or Mr. Andrew's Vision unless they just weren't paying attention.

According to conversations I've had with people involved, it was never going into CITS. They are using the same set from the Asian production and those are for a proscenium house. Apparently it is coming in next season.

I referred to a Rose or Jack in the sense of having a central focus.  I think one of the reasons the show didn’t do as well as expected was because the show — despite its focus — did not involve audiences emotionally.  We can agree to disagree.

I’d agree there’s no central plot. Therefore no one to root for. But it’s a gorgeous score.
