20th Century Fox 2013-2018 film schedule

20th Century Fox has announced a large number of films that it will be releasing from 2013-2014. The well-received and successful 2011 films, 'X-Men: First Class' and 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' will have sequels in summer 2014. The untitled 'X-Men sequel' will be released on July 18, 2014 while 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' comes to theaters on May 23, 2014.

Also, the blockbuster film, 'Independence Day' will be returning to theaters in 3D on July 3, 2013. Other films include a remake of 'The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty' starring director and lead Ben Stiller and Kristen Wiig for Christmas 2013; 'Bridesmaids' director Paul Feig's untitled comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy for April 5, 2013; 'Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters' for August 16, 2013; and 'Walking with Dinosaurs' on on December 20, 2013.

The one film I'm very skeptical about is the remake of 'Water Mitty'. Danny Kaye was excellent in the original and so was Virginia Mayo. I'm not sure if Stiller and Wiig will be as good as they were.

I was pretty shocked by how much I liked "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," so I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Also, on their schedule is an upcoming animated film called 'Epic', which is based on the story book, 'Leafman'. It will be directed by Oscar-winning short film director William Joyce.

"The animated adventure, about a community of bugs trying to survive in an old woman’s garden, features the voices of Beyoncé Knowles, The Hunger Games‘ Josh Hutcherson, Amanda Seyfried, Jackass star Johnny Knoxville, Parks & Recreation‘s Aziz Ansari, SNL‘s Jason Sudeikis, singer Steven Tyler, and 30 Rock‘s Judah Friedlander. ??It debuts May 24, 2013."

I was under the impression that the first Percy Jackson movie was considered an underperformer, so I'm a bit surprised that they are indeed planning on filming the second book.

^ I am too. However, it apparently did well internationally. Also, I remember an article saying now that 'Harry Potter' is over and 'Twilight' is soon coming to end, there are not as many films based off of books for young readers that will give it competition except for 'The Hunger Games', which has a second film that will be released later that year. Also, 20th Century Fox is moving forward with this series for now instead of the 'Narnia' films because Walden Media's contract with the C.S. Lewis Estate expired and those films cannot go into production again until sometime later.

The other day on Facebook, Hugh Jackman posted a new pic of himself as Wolverine for that upcoming movie and OH EM GEE - he's even more muscular than usual. It's glorious!

Ehhhhh... Not too impressed with Matt Reeves. I think keeping Rupert Wyatt would have been the wise choice. Give me the competent technician over the faux-visionary. Rise of the Planet of the Apes had no right in being as good as it was.

The Wolverine movie is a sorta sequel to the Gavin Hood-directed film that Fox prefers people not remember (except for the ten of us who do want a Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool film). Aronofsky was originally considered for the sequel but James Mangold can do action- he just needs a good script.

No doubt they were doing another X-Men and this was a Comic-Con announcement which I believe was just overshadowed by the Marvel Studios/Disney announcements of Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy. I think Jennifer Lawrence rising as a legitimate bankable actress and Michael Fassbender's equally rising Q ratings you just knew they were moving toward a sequel with the swinging 60s/spy caper thing going. Matthew Vaughn better stay on as the director. He is currently doing Kick-Ass 2 (which hopefully stays away from the source material as much as possible).

I'm SOO glad he's back at the helm--and I hope they're faithful to one of the best X-Men story arcs...

As mentioned, Percy did underperform domestically, but did well internationally and I've read DVD sales were good and have actually remained strong--as has the book series. So I guess it makes sense to go with them, I know I read somewherre that characters from it were very popular kids costumes last, and this (so far) Halloween. They should drop Chris Columbus ASAP...

Cannot wait for the new X-MEN, so happy to see jennifer Lawrence is now a bonafide star so I'm excited to see how much better this one does. And oh my God, so excited about Bryan Singer, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen coming back! It's gonna be amazing.

Oh, nice! There were rumors about him not getting along well with Singer during X2 shooting, so I didn't really have any hope he'd ever want to come back to the franchise.

I also seem to recall Mr. Cumming stating that the hellacious make-up process for the role was also part of his reasoning for not wanting to return for the third movie, though that could have been just an internet rumor.

I agree with the earlier post about "Rise of the Planet of the Apes". I walked into the theater thinking I am going to hate this movie (I still had horrid memories of Tim Burton's remake of the original "Planet of the Apes"). I loved the film and after seeing it in the theater ended up watching it twice on Netflix.

I just want to know if Sabretooth could make it in the film. They have Azazel there and since Lawrence is back, I wouldn't be surprised if Mystique is at the center of the film. Her lineage was a major part of the original films, might as well include the two fathers. And frankly, I just want Liev Schrieber to return. His Sabretooth was the best part in the Wolverine film.
