I was just at Dogfight tonight and haven't been so moved and fixated on a piece in a little while. Lindsay, Derek and the ensemble gave such great performances and Pasek and Paul's score and Peter Duchan's book flowed perfectly. Would love to see this transfer to a commercial Broadway venue.
Does anyone think this show could have a future once 2nd Stage takes ownership of the Helen Hayes?

I've been hearing talk of a transfer, yes.

If not transfer, I hope it at least extends!

I saw this recently and it was one of the best shows I saw while I was in New York. I think only THE BOOK OF MORMON was better. With a few improvements I think this can do pretty well on Broadway and I think Mendez and Klena could see some nominations if it does transfer. WHICH IT SHOULD

Wasn't there talk of a transfer to early September?

What so it could promptly close?

If you mean extension, yes, there was talk of an extension to September 2. Nick Blaemire apparently tweeted about it. As of now though, it doesn't look like it's official.

they've already extended a week. They were supposed to end August 12th, now it's until the 19th. There is a chance of it extending again until the 26th, but probably not much after as Annaleigh Ashford is in Kinky Boots. It wouldn't make sense to extend it a couple of weeks for a replacement.

...I imagine this would need a small Broadway house, yeah?

Boggess, yes i meant extension, not transfer haha, was in a hurry.

and has for a small theater, Helen Hayes I said could be an option since 2nd Stage is taking, but the Booth could work took. Is Virginia Woolf supposed to be limited?

Joe Mantello is no longer directing Other Desert Cities in L.A. due to a scheduling conflict. I don't know if this means Dogfight is transferring around then (early December), or if he has another project lined up for that time frame.

It's an interesting piece, but if it transferred, I would be surprised if it didn't go the way of The Scottsboro Boys.

keb2, the conflict that caused Mantello to have to drop out of directing OTHER DESERT CITIES in LA is the Broadway transfer of Shar White's THE OTHER PLACE for Manhattan Theatre Club, not DOGFIGHT.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I agree with Newintown (who doesn't sound so new in town). I would think the first act of Dogfight too ugly for a Broadway audience.

Is this maybe still happening? Is it possible to get a recording also or is it too late??

I haven't heard anything about a transfer and it's never too late for a recording.

I think, with the success of Christmas Story, it will end up on Broadway eventually. But it needs a lot of work. It's a tough story to sell. And the music wasn't "hard" enough for such a rough storyline.

I remember hearing recently that one of the A Christmas Story producers was interested in it now & would help develop it and get it to Broadway more...not sure if there is any truth to this at all.

Yeah. I'm sure it could be developed. But it's not exactly a commercial property. It's neither big enough nor emotional enough to make it a success.

^Yes that is correct. Unless a producer is looking to take a big risk, the cast knows that it most likely will not happen, and are still hoping for the cast album.

According to MTI, Dogfight is going to be released for amateur rights soon. The link is as follows:
