INTO THE WOODS Reviews  Jan 9 2023, 09:04:35 PM

Off topic, but several articles about the closing have referenced this production having 44 previews, which seemed outrageous to me. Here is one example from this site.

https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/4-Broadway-Shows-Close-Today-20230108

I went to IBDB to verify and they too have that preview count and an opening night of August 6th. I could have sworn it opened and was reviewed July 10th…

Thank you, this is it exactly!

Broadway Mural at the Marriott Marquis  Oct 22 2022, 08:53:00 PM

Does anyone remember the giant mural in the breezeway of the Marriott Marquis that highlighted Broadway thru the years? I’ve been combing the internet and can’t find any images of it. I remember it was taken down around 2006-07, and I just want to see a picture of it.

I always thought it was pretty cool, but maybe it was tacky. Nostalgia has made me forget, as a kid very into theatre the last time I saw it, I just loved it.

The Gilded Age on HBO - News & Discussion Thread  Feb 1 2022, 12:02:00 AM

I did, I’m really enjoying it so far. I also couldn’t stop thinking Katie Finneran bears a strong resemblance to Glenn Close in these costumes.

Roles that significantly changed when their originators moved on?  Oct 10 2021, 12:00:34 PM
I didn’t see it, but I think I read that when Eartha Kitt took over Chita’s role in Nine, the extended dance break was removed from “Folies Bergeres” to accommodate her abilities.

Mario Lopez getting the star treatment in A Chorus Line when he played Zach, being made the head of the pyramid formation when that track belongs to Paul… and the costume change from a sweater to a polo to show off his arms 😂

DEAR EVAN HANSEN film sets September 2021 release  May 18 2021, 01:27:15 PM

I don’t know what everyone expected his hair to look like, but teens aren’t always the best stylists. I saw a lot of bad hair in high school, mine included. This wig seems about right to me LOL

“Some of the archaic effects were quite cringe-worthy in the Palladium production.”

Which effects do you mean?

Hard to find Webber releases now on iTunes  Feb 8 2019, 11:32:21 AM
I would pay good money for a copy of Betty Buckley’s EP, and I can’t find it anywhere. Anyone here have any ideas where I can look? Apparently it is on iTunes, but the New Zealand store which I can’t access.

Mine is the window card for the 1994 Lincoln Center revival of Carousel. I chose it for the same reason I chose my name. I wish I could have seen this production.
New carousel album?  May 7 2018, 08:50:44 PM

So happy to hear this! I can finally relax :)

First time for  Apr 25 2018, 03:52:06 PM
It would seem based on my name here alone that I would have a biased opinion on this production, but I’d recommend giving it a chance. Is it a perfect revival? No. Did I still love the experience of hearing (most of) that score with some incredible voices and seeing some spectacular choreography? Absolutely.

I plan on seeing it again next month, I find this show occupies my mind most days and I am just glad to have it back in any form. I truly hope they make a recording, and maybe even

CAROUSEL (2018) Previews  Mar 14 2018, 03:52:48 PM
Jarethan, to be fair, Schmuli said “R&H’s favorite work,” which I have often heard that it was their personal favorite. At least I recall it being Rodgers’ favorite of his own shows, not certain about Hammerstein.

FineByDesign, I agree 100% with your assessment, all well said. Beautiful song, marvelous film. I want to share your post with my friends who did not understand why it won but haven’t seen Coco yet, just basing their opinions off the performances last night. You expressed perfectly what I tried to tell them but couldn’t quite convey. Thank you!
Two Best Production Tony Winners in One Theater  Jul 23 2015, 08:25:15 PM

I believe 1964 is an example, as Luthor and Hello, Dolly! both opened at the St. James that season.

MTC's Friedman Theatre- The Whitest Stage on Broadway  Oct 1 2014, 08:27:28 AM
James Earl Jones DID do Love Letters two years ago with Tyne Daly at Bucks County Playhouse. I actually don't think too many people cared that he didn't fit every aspect of the word WASP, he was a megawatt star bringing a character's words to life. They both were great.
Jersey Boys Trailer thread  Apr 19 2014, 03:55:27 PM
"Granted, the Four Seasons begin as hoods, but this isn't a mob movie."

I suppose not, but they do have strong mob ties throughout the course of the stage show too. *Spoilers(I suppose?)* It's part of where they come from and who they get involved with in Belleville. Some of them are in and out of prison at the start of it all, end up there again after success and spend a good deal of time trying to bail Tommy out of the debt he racked up to pay off the loan shark. Certainly not everyth

I was hoping to get a chance to see this production!
How Many Of The 40 Broadway Theaters Have You Been To?  Nov 27 2013, 01:00:55 PM
Ok so I am a bit of a list maniac! I love to keep track of what I see on Broadway, and I am currently working on my Off-Broadway master list, but here is what I've got as of Nov 17, 2013. Each theatre is numbered in the order in which I first attended a performance there. The fraction that follows the theatre name is the number of productions above the total performances seen.

I really wish there was a like button on this site. Very well said Christoph, what an obnoxious group.
