I know most of the board hates this new revival, but I hope this means we’re getting a new cast recording of the show! https://instagram.com/p/BiC8TdmAH3u/

The picture was deleted; what was it? Because it would be great to have a cast album of this show; I really would love seeing Renée's performance preserved.
i would be flabbergasted if this revival wasn’t recorded. mixed reviews notwithstanding, it would just seem strange for a Broadway revival of a Rodgers + Hammerstein musical NOT to receive a recording.
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
It would be strange, as every other major R+H show has had a "new" cast recording (minus Sound of Music...but why choose anything other than the film sound track)

It'll be missing songs and have some awkward changes to the songs Jack O'Brien so graciously decided to keep in the show, but at least the cover art will be beautiful.

Given they didn't use the show art for either version of the Playbill, are we actually sure the cover art will be great? :P

The 1998 revival of The Sound of Music did receive a cast recording, and of course there's also the soundtrack from the NBC live production.
It was for some promo material. No cast recording yet.

Can't see the image. But they'd be stupid not to have at least 5 or 6 tracks to send to the Tony voters, touting Tunick's orchestrations and the cast's vocals. But if they haven't recorded it yet, I doubt there's a way they could record it and get it out with time for the voters to listen to it.
Hopefully they fixed that dumpster fire of an ending for the album. No one wants to turn on that final track to hear that dancer girl warble out the first few lines of "You'll Never Walk Alone."
