The Terra Café presents: The Petrified Forest by Robert E. Sherwood, directed by Michael McGee.
The Petrified Forest was written in 1935 during the Great Depression,as fascism rose in the world. The original Broadway run launched Humphrey Bogart’s career. Along with Bogart, Leslie Howard and Bette Davis starred in the 1936 film. This “site-specific” production of an American classic is pulled forth freshly into our time. A little café rests in the Arizona desert. Dead wood has turned to stone in the nearby Petrified Forest. A young woman fights through chaos, fear, and violence for a chance at her dreams.
