Arsenic and Old Lace revolves around Mortimer Brewster, his bride to be Elaine Harper and the twisted Brewster family. Mortimer returns to his family home after his wedding to break the news to Aunt’s Abby & Martha, who raised him and his brother Teddy, who believes he is Theodore Roosevelt. During the course of events, Mortimer discovers that his loving aunts have developed a “very bad habit” of ending the lives of men they presume are suffering of lonely old bachelorhood. Things get even more complicated when his other brother Jonathan, who resembles Boris Karloff, shows up. Jonathan, too, has been up to no good and is looking for a place to hide from the police. Mortimer tries to remain sane amidst all the insanity and resolve the situation, while also attempting to go on his honeymoon.
