Maryland Ensemble Theatre Presents SUPER THE MUSICAL

Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) FUN Company presents the world premiere and original work, SUPER! The Musical, written by last summer's hit production, "Camelot and the Fight For the Holy Grail", playwright Sarah Shulman, Lyrics by "Q, The Witch and the Magical Orb", writer Caitlyn Joy, and Music by Callan Holderbaum.
DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS Opens At Bowie Playhouse, 4/20

Prince George's Little Theatre will produce the musical 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' at the Bowie Playhouse from April 20 to May 12.  All Friday performances and the first three Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. The Sunday performances on April 22, 29 and May 5 and closing performance on Saturday May 12 are 2 p.m. matinees. The play is directed by Rebecca Koltraba-Bhargava and produced by Keith Brown.  The choreographer is Richelle Howie-Lacewell, and the music director is Chris Pinder.

Continuing its season theme of "Off Your Rocker," The Highwood Theatre will present an all-new production of the quirky musical "Soon," opening in April. "Soon" is Highwood's 5th annual Open Source Theatre Project, and with the intent of redefining conceptions of a traditional night at the theatre, will feature two casts - one made up of talented high school students and one of adult professionals. The two  casts will rehearse together and perform in repertory, supported by a student design team and student crew.

Poe Theatre On The Air Revives Poe's Most Famous Works In New Podcast Series

On April 17, 2018, WYPR Baltimore will air the first in a series of new podcasts by The National Edgar Allan Poe Theatre On the Air, with its production of The Tell-Tale Heart. The series features fresh, 20- to 30-minute podcast adaptations of the best-known works of Edgar Allan Poe, America's renowned master of horror and suspense. Each episode guides listeners through a mental hospital where each cell houses Poe protagonists, each waiting to thrill audiences with dramatic re-tellings of familiar stories including The Tell-Tale Heart, The Black Cat, Berenice and The Cask of Antillado. Musical underscore and sound effects add even more suspense to the stirring character accounts, brought to life by a creative team of performing artists and talent from the Baltimore metro area.
Registration Open For Spring Arts Classes At Howard County Center For The Arts

Registration has begun for Howard County Arts Council's (HCAC) spring educational programs at the Howard County Center for the Arts in Ellicott City. HCAC offers classes and workshops for lifelong learners from Pre-K through adult. Spring arts programs, open to the public, begin April 16. Classes range in duration from six to eight weeks.

Known for his sense of humor, deft implementation of the lowbrow, and provocative observations of society, John Waters will be returning to Baltimore this fall for his first major museum retrospective in his hometown. From October 7, 2018 to January 6, 2019, the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) presents John Waters: Indecent Exposure, a lifetime celebration of Waters' visual artworks comprising over 160 photographs, sculptures, soundworks, and videos made since the early 1990s.

Similarly in this play, protagonist Ray, played by Tony Nam, cares for his dying father (Glenn Kubota) at home, with the help of nurse Lucien (Jefferson A. Russell), girlfriend Cornelia (Eunice Bae) and his Uncle (Song Kim).

National Philharmonic Kicks Off Spring Concert Season With Grammy & Sphinx Winner Violinist Melissa White

The National Philharmonic celebrates the genius of Johannes Brahms at Strathmore with a performance by Grammy and Sphinx Competition award winner, American violinist Melissa White, in "Spirited Brahms." White will perform Brahms' Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 77 under the baton of Philharmonic Music Director and Conductor Piotr Gajewski.  Also on the program is Brahms Symphony No. 4 in E Minor, Op. 98, which is stored in its original condition in the U.S. Library of Congress.
