Single Carrot Welcomes Artistic Team Of PETER PAN To Baltimore

Love, Loss, and What I Wore is a collection of intimate stories complied by Nora and Delia Ephron based on the 1995 book (Love, Loss, ...) by Ilene Beckerman. A series of monologues and ensemble pieces about women, clothes and memory covering all the important subjects-mothers, prom dresses, mothers, buying bras, mothers, hating purses and why we only wear black. The subject matter of the monologues includes women's relationships and wardrobes and at times the interaction of the two, using the female wardrobe as a time capsule of a woman's life.

Mark Ryder Original Choreography Grant Applications Now Available

Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) is pleased to announce that applications for the FY2019 Mark Ryder Original Choreography Grant Program are now available. This program was established at the bequest of Mark Ryder's family, in honor of his life's work, to recognize individual creative expression, and to provide financial assistance to choreographers to create new original work. A fund has been established at the Columbia Foundation to enable monies to be awarded for this purpose in perpetuity. The grant award recipients will be announced at HCAC's Annual Meeting and Grant Awards Ceremony in September 2018. The minimum grant amount will be $500.

Conductor Jordan Randall Smith has recently been appointed to two new posts in the Baltimore area. Beginning April 2, Smith leads the choir, children's choir, and orchestra at Hunt's Church in Towson and will co-direct the church's new digital media department. In his blog, Jordan wrote, 'I am delighted to join the the staff of this special group of people as we look ahead to a range of new initiatives to expand our musical footprint and community impact.'

Stars Shine At Celebration Of The Arts In Howard County

Nearly 425 business and arts leaders were on hand on Saturday, March 24th for the Howard County Arts Council's 21st Annual Celebration of the Arts in Howard County. Held at Howard Community College's Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center in Columbia, this year's benefit gala netted approximately $73,000 with an additional $68,377 in donated goods and services in support of the arts in Howard County. Since 1998, more than $1.5 million has been raised through Celebration of the Arts!

Under the direction of National Philharmonic Concertmaster Colin Sorgi, the National Philharmonic Chamber Players perform the works of Schubert and Mendelssohn on April 22 at 3pm at the John Kendall Recital Hall, Potter Violins in Takoma Park, MD. Entitled "Next Generation," the concert showcases gifted students from the Philharmonic's Summer String Institutes performing the Mendelssohn Octet in E-flat Major alongside members of the Philharmonic Chamber Players. The concert also features Schubert's String Quartet in C Major. Potter's intimate hall seats only 90, allowing concert goers to experience chamber music as it was originally intended, up close and personal.
