Cockpit In Court Summer Theatre Presents Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre, in residence at CCBC Essex, will perform Disney's The Little Mermaid from July 20 through August 5. All performances will be held at The Robert and Eleanor Romadka College Center, F. Scott Black Theatre, on the Essex campus, 7201 Rossville Boulevard.

CCBC's year of Baltimore Stories continues with The Little Mermaid, a Disney story featuring songs written by Baltimore-born playwright and lyricist Howard Elliott Ashman. In this modern fairytale, young Princess Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above the sea. Ariel bargains with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs, but the bargain is not what it seems. Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.

Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre - Disney's The Little Mermaid Performance Schedule:

  • July 20 and 21 at 8 p.m.
  • July 22 at 3 p.m.
  • July 27 and 28 at 8 p.m.
  • July 29 at 3 p.m.
  • August 2, 3 and 4 at 8 p.m.
  • August 5 at 3 p.m.

The Cockpit in Court cast of 30 actors will be directed by Jillian Bauersfeld. The principal cast includes Allison Comotto as Ariel; Jim Baxter as Prince Eric; Holly Gibbs as Ursula; Josh Schoff as Flotsam; Jonah Wolf as Jetsam; Gary Dieter as Scuttle; Adrien Amrhein as Flounder; Derek Cooper as Sebastian; and Mark Lloyd as King Triton.

General admission tickets are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors and $14 for students. Tickets are available at the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS (2787) or online at TicketReturn.com. A group rate of $17 per ticket is available for parties of 20 people or more.

The music in The Little Mermaid is by Alan Menken, who collaborated with Ashman on several animated Disney productions. The Little Mermaid was produced by Howard Ashman and John Musker, and written and directed by John Musker and Ron Clements. Ashman earned Academy Awards for Best Original Song for "Under the Sea" and "Kiss the Girl."

For the 2017-2018 arts season, the Performing Arts and Humanities at CCBC is featuring Baltimore Stories, a yearlong series about Baltimore told through dance, music and theater by artists in diverse genres who live in or have roots in Baltimore. Baltimore Stories is supported, in part, by an Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Each year, CCBC's Performing Arts department creates a season of work based on a common theme.
