A vital part of New York City's choral and new music communities, the Manhattan Choral Ensemble (MCE) enters into its 13th season with an ambitious series of programs that span the 16th century to the present day. In each of its four programs, the MCE will focus on works written by New York City-based artists.

In the spirit of the holidays, publisher Open Books will be holding a special charity drive in honor of Hoosier author Susie Duncan Sexton's paperback release Secrets of an Old Typewriter. Open Books will donate $1 to the Symphony Animal Foundation for every copy sold between December 6 and 9 on Amazon.com. Sexton, an ardent animal rights proponent dedicates a section of the book to the important role that animals and animal rescue have played in her life.

The Santaland Diaries will open Parade Productions' second season on December 13th, and run through December 23rd at the Studio Theatre at Mizner Park in Boca Raton. The Santaland Diaries hilariously relates David Sedaris' experiences when he reluctantly worked as an elf in Macy's Christmastime Santaland display, and offers an uproarious behind-the-scenes look at how department stores manufacture Christmas spirit.

Maestro Victor DeRenzi will moderate the discussion. The panel will include the opera's composer Daron Hagen, librettist J.D. McClatchy, stage director Martha Collins and scenic designer Michael Schweikardt.

The Bonstelle Theatre will open an adaptation by Tyler J. Monroe of one of Hans Christian Andersen's most popular fairytales, The Snow Queen, just in time for the holiday season. It runs from November 30 to December 9, 2012. This classic children's fairytale is a holiday treat, and the Bonstelle Theatre's production will include a preshow craft activity with cast members for children starting 45 minutes prior to curtain time.

Furthermore, area residents are encouraged to drop off their undistributed Halloween candy to the Paper Mill Playhouse Box Office now until Friday, November 16th. All candy collected will be sent to troops serving our country. The Paper Mill Playhouse Lobby is now open to area residents, noon until 5:00pm, seven-days-a-week to charge electronic devices.
