The Harbor Lights Theater Company Presents THE KING AND I, 11/2-11/18; Volunteers Needed

Staten Island's Harbor Lights Theater Company will present Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I from November 2 to November 18.

A favorite of audiences everywhere, this dramatic, richly textured and ultimately uplifting tale of East versus West features a soaring score by Rodgers and Hammerstein. The production stars Broadway veterans and scores of local children and adults.

Performances are at the Music Hall at Snug Harbor Cultural Center at 1000 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island, NY 10301

The performance schedule for the first week, 11/2-11/4 is Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm and 8pm and Sunday at 2pm. The performances during following weeks, 11/8-11/11 and 11/15-11/18, will be at 8pm on Thursday-Saturday and 2pm on Sunday.

The company is also looking for volunteers for this production. All volunteers will have an opportunity to attend the show for free. Available positions are listed below. For information on applying, visit http://theharborlightstheatercompany.org/support/volunteer/.

MARKETING VOLUNTEERS: Needed to help distribute postcards and posters throughout Staten Island. Looking for volunteers that are eager to get some exercise as this requires walking around and dropping cards in local businesses.

ASSISTANTS TO OUR COSTUME DEPARTMENT: Looking for volunteers with experience in wardrobe. Volunteers will assist with sewing, washing delicates and dressing talent. Availability can be flexible, but prefer full availability during shows November 2-18th and flexible availability before shows.

SEAMSTRESSES: Need volunteer seamstresses immediately.

DRESSERS: Looking for volunteers to help wardrobe with costume changes during The King and I. We have a large cast, so we can use a lot of help with this.

CARPENTERS AND BACKSTAGE CREW: Volunteers needed to assist our technical director with set construction, painting, and set up. Also, anyone with experience operating theatrical lighting and sound are encouraged to apply if available for the run of the show. Set construction will begin mid-October and technical director will set a schedule for all volunteers.

USHERS: Looking for volunteers to usher The King and I. Attire is all black and volunteers will arrive one hour before show time.

BOX OFFICE: Looking for volunteers to assist in the box office during the run of The King and I, November 2-18th. Duties include taking ticket orders, collecting patron data, handling will call table. All volunteers will be required to be at the box office one hour before show time.

SALES CALLS: We would like help with our ticket sales campaign. Volunteers will call our former patrons to sell tickets to The King and I. Those with former telephone call experience are encouraged to apply.

CONCESSIONS: Volunteers needed for the run of The King and I to help with our concessions stand, selling small snacks and beverages before the show and during intermission. All volunteers will be required to be at the concession stand one hour before show time.

WRANGLER: Looking for two volunteers to help us during The King and I with keeping talent in the right place at the right time. We have many younger cast members in this production and we will need volunteers to make sure they are where they should be at all times.
