On Sunday, September 30, 2012, fourteen actors, actresses, critics, playwrights - and even an astronaut - will be inducted into the newest class of THE PLAYERS Hall of Fame, John Martello, Executive Director of THE PLAYERS, has announced. For the 5th time in its history, The PLAYERS will commemorate each of the new, 14 inductees with a fine-art portrait that will become part of THE PLAYERS' permanent collection. The unveiling is at a special fundraising dinner at the landmarked Booth mansion at 16 Gramercy Park South, (East 20th off Park Ave.) New York City.

The star-packed lineup for "The 46th Annual CMA Awards" launches with today's announcement that Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Kelly Clarkson and Little Big Town are the first group of performers confirmed for "Country Music's Biggest Night™." "The 46th Annual CMA Awards," hosted for the fifth year by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, will air live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

As BroadwayWorld reported last week, REBECCA's lead producer Ben Sprecher recently confirmed the receipt of new financial commitments from investors to alleviate the $4.5 million gap in the musical's budget. Now according to the New York Times, the cast of the show has been notifoed that rehearsals will indeed begin on Monday, October 1.

Walnut Street Theatre continues its landmark 204TH season with an all-new production of Broadway's five-time Tony Award-winning family musical, Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN. Directed and choreographed by Marc Robin, this production will feature Philadelphia's very own Jeffrey Coon and Broadway's Jennifer Hope Wills. The cast also includes a live horse that will pull the Wells Fargo Wagon in the first act. THE MUSIC MAN begins previews on November 6th, opens on November 14th and runs through January 6th on the WST Mainstage.

Paper Mill Playhouse will present A Chorus Line, the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical conceived, choreographed and directed by Michael Bennett, with book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, music by Marvin Hamlisch, and lyrics by Edward Kleban. The production will be directed and choreographed by Mitzi Hamilton, one of the dancers in Bennett's original taped workshop that inspired the 1975 Musical. John O'Neill will serve as Music Director/Conductor. A Chorus Line will begin performances on October 3. Governor Mitt Romney joined Brian Williams live on stage at NBC News' "Education Nation" Summit this morning to discuss his ideas for the nation's education future and answer questions from Summit attendees, discussing what it will take to prepare all Americans for the high-skill jobs of the 21st century. The interview aired live on MSNBC at 11:00AM/ET. The Summit was held from Sept. 23-25 at The New York Public Library.
