The artistic talent of Mercer County Community College's Visual Arts students will be beautifully showcased in this year's 'MCCC Visual Arts Students Exhibition,' on display from Tuesday, April 27 to Thursday, May 13. An Opening Reception takes place on April 29, 5 - 7:30 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public and takes place at The Gallery at MCCC, located on the second floor of the college's Communications Building on the West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Twelve local high school students are about to go on the trip of a lifetime thanks to a new Blumenthal Performing Arts Center program made possible by a generous gift from The Doctor Family Foundation. The 12 participating students will have the opportunity to experience Broadway firsthand, from the thrill of the performance on stage to the chance to go backstage and visit with the cast. Village Theatre has announced casting for their production of the tap dancing spectacular 42ND STREET, directed by Steve Tomkins. This production will have one preview performance in Issaquah on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, and will officially open the following evening, running May 13-July 3, 2010 in downtown Issaquah, July 9-August 1, 2010 in downtown Everett.

Seattle Theatre Group (STG) is proud to announce its 2010 - 2011 performance season with 30 extraordinary engagements at the historic Paramount and Moore Theatres as well as favorite area venues including Triple Door and The 5th Avenue. The Working Theatre will be presenting a staged reading of Bugs of the Pigs in the Lions, by Kia Corthron. The event will take place on April 19 at 7PM and will feature direction by Kent Gash. According to EW.om, stage and screen star F. Murray Abraham will guest star in the season finale of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The episode is set to air in July with Abraham playing the father of Jeff Goldblum's character.

The Elliot Norton Awards, which honor theatrical achievement in Boston, have announced nominations for the 2010 season. A ceremony will be held on May 17 at 7PM at the Paramount.

In the upcoming weeks, top morning program 'LIVE! with Regis and Kelly' will welcome some of today's most popular Broadway entertainers who are known to light up both the stage and screen. Plus, 'LIVE's' Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa will present the always-exciting 'Broadway Week' during the week of April 26th. Each day, the hosts will feature some of today's most exciting musicals, with the hosts themselves taking part in some of the productions.

According to a report by Variety, the recent union dispute surrounding Broadway's Come Fly Away has caused American Guild of Musical Artists to try to play a bigger role in the Broadway community. Alan Gordon, AGMA exec director, expressed interest in representing dancers not ony in dance-heavy shows like Come Fly Away, but other productions as well. Gordon stated, 'We think that down the road it's better for dancers appearing in anything, including Broadway shows, to be represented by AGMA.'

According to Variety, Peter Mills and Barry Wyner will be awarded the 2010 Kleban Prize in Musical Theater on June 21. Each will receive a prize of $100,000 at the ceremny which will be held at ASCAP.

According to Variety, Viola Davis will star in DreamWorks Studios' 'The Help,' an adaptation of Kathryn Stockett's best-selling novel. Davis, who is currently in previews for Broadway's Fences also starring Denzel Washington, will play Aibileen.

Five-time Emmy Award-winner John Larroquette will make a stage appearance this spring, joining Johanna Day, Monica Raymund, and Michael Zegen in the cast of Elizabeth Meriwether's new play OLIVER!, in its world-premiere by the Off-Broadway theatre company the stageFARM, with previews starting May 9 prior to its official opening night May 17 at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St.) in Manhattan.

A collection of authors and actors including Stephen Colbert, young adult novelist Libba Bray (winner of the 2010 Printz Award for Going Bovine), Artistic Director of the Public Theater Oskar Eustis, novelist Jayne Anne Phillips (National Book Award finalist Lark & Termite) and novelist and Studio 360 host Kurt Andersen read from and discuss the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel To Kill A Mockingbird at Symphony Space's Thalia Book Club on April 28 at 8:00 p.m. The event, which takes place on the 84th birthday of author Harper Lee, marks the 50th anniversary of the watershed work. Leddy Center for the Performing Arts will begin its Summer in the Arts with two summer voice camps with Mary Gatchell. Mary comes back from NYC to teach two exciting camps in voice and joins mother, Elaine, to teach one amazing two week musical theater camp.

Writers' Theatre Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma announce that A Minister's Wife, Writers' Theatre's musical adapted from George Bernard Shaw's Candida, will be produced by Lincoln Center Theater in the 2010-11 season. The original musical was conceived and directed by Michael Halberstam, adapted by Austin Pendleton with music by Joshua Schmidt and lyrics by Jan Tranen. The Lincoln Center production will be directed by Halberstam. Performances begin on Thursday, April 7, 2011 and opens on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street, New York City).

This year, the popular Identification Day at the American Museum of Natural History is being held on May 22 to celebrate the International Day of Biodiversity. In addition to identifying shells, rocks, insects, feathers, bones, and artifacts brought by visitors, the day will also feature presentations from Museum scientists highlighting the importance of biodiversity. Entomologist Louis Sorkin will discuss and display many of the insects and arachnids housed at the Museum, ornithologist Paul Sweet will speak about why continuing to collect specimens is crucial to our understanding of avian biodiversity, and ichthyologist Radford Arrindell will discuss documenting fish biodiversity.
