Ojai Film Festival Names Local Filmmaking Award for Bill PaxtonOctober 22, 2019The Ojai Film Festival honors the late Bill Paxton with a new award named after him for best locally produced film. An accomplished actor/director and Ojai local, Paxton appeared in many films including The Terminator and Apollo 13. Paxton's son James will present the award, dubbed the Bill Paxton Award for Best Gold Coast Film, at the Awards Brunch on Sunday, November 3 in the Ojai Art Center courtyard. James Paxton, born and raised in Ojai, also works as an actor and producer.

The win marks 197 out of 199 weeks in first place. TODAY also won in total viewers Friday, helping narrow the weekly gap with GMA by 32% versus last week. TODAY was the only morning program to grow its audience in total viewers and in the key demo versus GMA week to week.

Comedy Central, All Things Comedy to Produce Patrice O'Neal DocumentaryOctober 22, 2019Comedy Central announced today a collaboration with All Things Comedy to produce a documentary about Patrice O'Neal. Set to begin filming this fall, the untitled documentary is a deep-dive portrait of O'Neal who passed away at 41 in 2011. The film, directed by Bonfiglio (Gary Gulman: The Great Depresh) will recount O'Neal's life story and explore the hilarious and controversial material he left behind. Utilizing a vast archive including never-before-seen personal materials and featuring O'Neal's family and friends, the film will include a who's who of comedy — the comics who knew, were influenced and were affected by O'Neal — placing his work into the context of the time as well as today.
