Universal Music Group Nashville has signed Chrissy Metz, star of 20th Century Fox's BREAKTHROUGH and the award-winning NBC series “This Is Us.” UMG Nashville first worked with Metz on the Breakthrough movie soundtrack which featured her performance of the Oscar nominated, Diane Warren penned track, “I'm Standing With You.” Chrissy made her Academy of Country Music Awards debut in April when she performed “I'm Standing With You” alongside now label mates Carrie Underwood, Lauren Alaina, Maddie & Tae & Mickey Guyton. SHOWTIME has announced today that the highly anticipated series PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS will premiere on Sunday, April 26 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The series stars Tony® and Emmy® winner Nathan Lane, Natalie Dormer, Daniel Zovatto, Kerry Bishé, Rory Kinnear, Adriana Barraza, Michael Gladis, Jessica Garza and Johnathan Nieves. SHOWTIME has announced that it has picked up an 11th and final season of its hit comedy series SHAMELESS, premiering this summer. SHAMELESS, which originally premiered in the winter of 2011, ranks as the network's no. 1 comedy, its longest-running series and has the youngest-skewing audience of any SHOWTIME series. Season 10 of SHAMELESS, which will finale on Sunday, January 26, has been averaging 5.7 million weekly viewers across platforms. SHOWTIME has picked up a second season of the critically acclaimed comedy series WORK IN PROGRESS. Created and written by Chicago improv mainstays Abby McEnany and Tim Mason and co-written by Lilly Wachowski (The Matrix), the series stars McEnany as a fictionalized version of herself whose misfortune and despair unexpectedly lead her to a vibrantly transformative relationship. SHOWTIME has ordered a ten-episode second season of THE L WORD: GENERATION Q, the sequel to the groundbreaking drama series THE L WORD®. Season one has followed the intermingled lives of Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals), Shane McCutcheon (Katherine Moennig) and Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey), along with new characters Dani Nùñez (Arienne Mandi), Micah Lee (Leo Sheng), Finley (Jacqueline Toboni), Sophie Suarez (Rosanny Zayas) and Gigi (Sepideh Moafi), as they experience love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success in L.A. Roses are Blind, an award-winning film featuring 4-time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines and Tony nominee Daniel Davis will have a screening in NYC on Wed. 1/15 at 8:15pm at Anthology Archives (62 Second Avenue) as part of the NewFilmmakers New York Film Festival. Tickets are $7 and go on sale at 5:30pm the night of screening at the Anthology Box Office. The film is directed by Gui Agustini, Executive Produced by Wendy J. White and co-written by Agustini and White.

After a string of successful singles and EPs, rising Icelandic singer-songwriter Axel Flóvent makes his US live debut opening for Radical Face, Ben Cooper's musical project.  The tour that begins on January 21 in Phoenix and ends on March 15 in Atlanta, includes two dates at LA's famed venue The Troubadour. 

This morning, Kristen Anderson Lopez & Robert Lopez received an Oscar nomination for  Best Original Song for 'Into The Unknown' from Frozen II. The duo, who wrote the songs for the Disney sequel, spoke to BroadwayWorld about their nomination, saying:

Muuk is an experimental rock band born in Mexico City in the early 2013. Austin-based soul band Tomar and the FCs are thrilled to announce the details of their “Rise Above” official album release show, taking place Saturday, Feb. 1 at Antone's Nightclub, located at 305 E. Fifth St, Austin, Texas 78701. The release show, presented by KUTX, will open with a tribute to Stax Records featuring performances by Kevin Russell (Shinyribs), The Watters, Sheree Smith, Soul Man Sam and Courtney Santana. Doors are at 9 p.m. The Stax Records Tribute will take place 10 - 11:15 p.m. and Tomar and the FCs will play from 11:30 p.m. - 1 a.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance here.

Sarah Jaffe is set to perform a special career-spanning show – A Constellation of Sorts – at The Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas on February 3rd where she will be joined by several members of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, she has announced a run of dates supporting New Orleans duo Generationals. The tour starts on March 3rd in Houston, TX and sees Jaffe perform in San Antonio, El Paso, Santa Fe, and Boulder – tickets are on sale now.
