GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL! is a two-person show within a show—this comedically conceived, choreographed, scored, and written theatrical romp brings to life the (allegedly) improvised two-man version of best pals Bud and Doug’s magnum opus, GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL!, as they dazzle an audience of potential producers and investors at the most outrageous, bombastic, and melodically catchy backers’ audition ever conceived on The Great White Way.

On its face, this explosively funny and ingenious spectacle is about Johann Gutenberg and the creation of the printing press (or, at the very least, it’s about what Bud and Doug retained after a five-minute scroll of Google search results about the topic), but it’s really about the hilarious heights achieved by the love two best buds have for one another in the pursuit of a crazy, off-the-wall dream.

Karen Cassady

Bev Davenport

Karen Cassady is a freelance artist, improviser, and comedic content creator teaching and performing at Dad’s since 2010, including in Invasion Christmas Carol, Wicket the Parody Musical, and her co-written show Karon the Barbarian. As a content creator, she’s built a following of over 3 million. Other credits include: Hertz Stage, Alliance Theatre, and Synchronicity Theatre. She hopes you enjoy—as Bev says, “EAT YOUR DREAMS!”

Travis Sharp

Doug Simon

Travis Sharp is an improv comic, actor, podcaster, and the co-playwright of Wicket the Parody Musical, Song of the Living Dead, Lawrenceburg, Musicals Suck (the Musical), The Change, and Hot Jambalaya (currently playing at Horizon Theatre—buy a ticket as soon as this show is over). By day, Travis works as an advertising Creative Director.

Cecil Walker

Charles

Trained in piano performance, Cecil Walker is a collaborative musician, educator, arranger, and vocalist. He has taught piano for over a decade and worked with a wide range of performers, including accompanying improv shows across Atlanta. His performance experience spans ensembles ranging from a cappella and tango to choirs and local bands.

Ella Boyett

Understudy

Ella Boyett joined the Dad’s Garage general company in 2025. Her musical theatre career began 27 years ago, and she moved to Atlanta in 2014 to pursue her calling (and discovered improv along the way!) Credits include: Belle and Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast, Rizzo in Grease, and Patsy in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. She’s thrilled to perform in Gutenberg! The Musical!

Tad Cameron

Understudy

Tad Cameron is an Atlanta-born improviser and actor. Dad’s Garage audiences may have seen him as the tall, tall Ewok from Wicket back in 2023 or teaching improv classes. You can catch him around town performing in French, the local improv comedy troupe (@frenchProvATL). Some of his favorite credits from around the country include Black Stache from Peter and the Starcatcher, Jim from Perfect Arrangement, and Edmond from King Lear.
