OnStage Atlanta presents Angels of the Southern Accents a new musical – Book, Lyrics and Music by Rus McCoy, Directed by Barry West, and Music Directed by Annie Cook Margaret Mitchell (Allison Pratt), author of the revered and reviled novel “Gone With The Wind” had a secret held for over 40 years after her death. She was married to two men, “Red” Upshaw (Walker Davis) and John Marsh (Michael Short), who were best friends in college and had a separate secret. Her closest confidant was her maid, Bessie Jordan (Kierra Danielle), who challenged her White privilege. Lastly, there was Benjamin Mays (Nat Martin), President of the prestigious Black university, Morehouse College, who would lead Mitchell down a controversial path that could ruin her reputation.
