Georgia Shakespeare Celebrates Roaring 20's with Gala May 22

Puttin' on the Ritz, a celebration of the Roaring 20's, is the theme of the 25th Anniversary Georgia Shakespeare Gala. The event will honor Oglethorpe University with the 2nd Annual Spirit of Will Award, recognizing individuals who exemplify the passion for the human condition that William Shakespeare displayed throughout the body of his writing, and those who courageously advocate for the primacy of the value of the arts as the ultimate expression of our shared humanity. Tickets are $200 with tables starting at $2,000 and include dinner, drinks and a special cabaret performance by Megan McFarland. Guntersville, Alabama, April 30, 2010 - The last live audition session for the Whole Backstage Theatre's 2010 TAKE THE STAGE amateur talent competition will be Saturday, May 8th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Whole Backstage Theater in Guntersville on Rayburn Avenue. The competition is open to amateur performers of all kinds ages 8 and up from Alabama and surrounding states, and will be presented June 3-6. Talent can be any type of amateur entertainment suitable for a family audience. Entrants can come and audition at any time during the period - no appointment is needed. Microphones and a sound system will be provided; a piano will be available for those who require one. Entry forms will also be available at the audition.

On May 8th through May 23rd, Newnan Community Theatre Company will present the multiple Tony and Academy Award winning musical 'Cabaret.' 'Cabaret' is a musical with a book by Joe Masteroff, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and music by John Kander. The 1966 Broadway hit production and spawned the 1972 film, as well as two subsequent Broadway productions in 1987 and 1998.

Aurora Theatre's 14th season will conclude with Marc Camoletti's farce, Boeing-Boeing, starting on May 6 continuing through May 30. Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 8:00 PM with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2:30PM. Tickets are $16-$30. Preview Performance Tuesday, May 4 at 8:00 PM with tickets $5 for Gwinnett County Schools, Student, Faculty and Staff; $10 for all others. The world's most famous nanny is coming to Atlanta! And in honor of the occasion, Broadway Across America - Atlanta is throwing a fun-filled family event at The Fox Theatre on Sunday, May 2. Hosted by Radio Disney AM 590 Atlanta, the Kids Night on Broadway celebration will take place in the Egyptian Ballroom from 5-6 p.m. There will be cookie decorating, face painting, arts and crafts, a prize wheel and ice cream sundaes during the FREE event. The GGC Lab Series features contemporary works fueled by innovation, creativity and inspiration, designed to give voice to playwrights representing our current generation of artists.
