The Dance Centre will present Drift (world premiere) Thursday through Saturday, May 21–23, 2026 at 8pm, with a post-show artist talkback on May 22 at The Dance Centre. Tickets are $38/$29 students, seniors, under 30s + $1 facility fee.

A powerful world premiere from Corporeal Imago, Drift conjures a mysterious world where the human form recedes into a scarred and shifting landscape. Choreographed by Artistic Directors Gabrielle Martin and Jeremiah Hughes in collaboration with the five performers, this new work unfolds through compelling movement, haunting visual effects, and an atmospheric soundscape. Drift is an investigation of transformation and ecological change from a company which continues to push the boundaries of physical and visual performance.

Corporeal Imago explores the tension between agency and fate through the intersection of contemporary circus and dance. Choreographers Gabrielle Martin and Jeremiah Hughes started collaborating while performing as principal characters with Cirque du Soleil's TORUK, brought together by their shared background in dance. The company's works have been presented internationally across Canada, Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom, including at Montréal Complètement Cirque and La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines, Assembly Festival at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (UK), Gluttony at the Adelaide Fringe Festival (AUS), The Dance Centre (Vancouver), Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, Bass Coast, San Francisco Aerial Arts Festival, and dance Immersion (Toronto). CI received The Dance Centre's Isadora Award for Excellence in Choreography (2022), and won the Intercultural Connections Best Production Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2025).

Direction is by Gabrielle Martin and Jeremiah Hughes, with choreography by Gabrielle Martin and Jeremiah Hughes with performing artists. The performance features Andréane Leclerc, Arash Khakpour, Davi Rodrigues, Nicole Rose Bond, and Vanessa Goodman, with music by Jo Hirabayashi and lighting by Jeremiah Hughes with Itai Erdal.
