The production of William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which opened earlier this week Off-Broadway to positive reviews has announced an extension to its Second Stage Run. Adding two weeks onto the initial schedule, the show will now run through March 20th. The show is rumored to be in discussion for a Broadway transfer, with no official word on the subject yet.

In the show, six young people on the edge of puberty strive to become adults in this funny, tender, sardonic musical by the composer of Falsettos. These outsiders use competition to define themselves, apart from their crazy families, while their struggle to escape childhood is overseen by grown-ups who never completely succeeded in escaping it themselves.
