The popularity of both culinary shows and musical series have risen in the past couple of years, and now UK distributor Ben Silverman plans to bring a combination of both genres to the US.

"The Kitchen Musical" will debut in various countries across Asia this October, but Silverman - who brought both The Office and Ugly Betty stateside - plans to pitch it in the United States this fall.

"We think it's a big, broad, accessible idea that's got a bit of everything: a cooking element, a musical, an 'Upstairs/Downstairs' dynamic and a little bit of 'Romeo and Juliet,'" Silverman told Variety.

Silverman also stated that he has an experienced choreographer-director attached to the project, though he's not yet naming who. He thinks "Kitchen" can spawn products such as a cookbook, live tour and stage musical - similar to the FOX series Glee's multi-platform success.
