STAGE AND SCREEN Original Cast Recording Announced, Release Party Held 5/20

The new original musical comedy STAGE AND SCREEN - written and composed by Kip Dennis, with music direction, arrangements and orchestration by six-time Emmy Award winning Musical Director Lanny Meyers - will make available a limited number of copies of its brand new Original Cast Recording, beginning on May 20, 2009, it has been announced by lead producer Vasi Laurence. Winner of the 2000 "Broadway-On-Sunset" First Look Competition - STAGE AND SCREEN is an over-the-top screwball comedy about married theatrical icons Myra Van Arsdale and Cecil Greps, who - after starring together in one of the worst flops Broadway has ever seen - wind up making a movie with a fly-by-night Production Company in 1930's Hollywood.

The cast recording of STAGE AND SCREEN features the vocal talents of Anne Tolpegin (seen in Broadway's A TALE OF TWO CITIES), Michael Halling (seen opposite Harry Connick Jr. in THE PAJAMA GAME), Ryan Silverman (currently appearing in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA), Steve Luker (seen on Broadway in the revival of 42ND STREET), Diane Findlay (currently seen Off-Broadway in FLAMINGO COURT), Bob Ader (seen on Broadway in ALL THE WAY HOME), Sandy Rosenberg (seen on Broadway in MAMMA MIA!), Andi Hopkins (DREAM GIRLS - National Tour), Natalie Mosco (seen on Broadway in the original cast of HAIR; currently at NJ Rep in HOUSEWIVES OF MANNHEIM), Michelle Blakely (seen on Broadway in the revival of ANNIE GET YOUR GUN) and Vasi Laurence (Tony Award-nominated Producer, and Drama Desk Best Musical Award for PASSING STRANGE).

The band featured on the STAGE AND SCREEN cast recording is: Mary Ann McSweeney (Bass), Sue Evans (Drums/Percussion), Todd Sullivan (Violin), and Jack Cavari (Banjo/Ukelele), and Lanny Meyers (Keyboard).

STAGE AND SCREEN - which is currently in negotiation for an Eastern Regional World-Premiere production in 2010 - has been work-shopped at the West Coast Musical Theatre Conference (Los Angeles), the Theater at St. Clement's (NYC), and as part of the New Songwriters Showcases of the New York Sheet Music Society (NYC); was a finalist in the Cardiff International Search for promising new musicals (London); and received a successful staged reading at the New Jersey Repertory Company (Long Branch, NJ).

The cast recording of STAGE AND SCREEN was recorded at Manhattan Beach Recording, Inc. with Danny Lawrence.
