Tony Award-winner John Mahoney opened Thursday night in Paper Mill Playhouse's New York area premiere of Michael Healy's The Drawer Boy, also starring Paul Vincent O'Connor and Louis Cancelmi. Directed by Anna D. Shapiro, The Drawer Boy was named one of the year's Ten Best in 2001 by Time Magazine following acclaimed productions in Toronto and Chicago.

The three-character play tells the story of a young, aspiring and idealistic actor who lands at the doorstep of two farmers - boyhood friends and WWII veterans. While researching farm life for his theatre project, he reveals hidden secrets, and what begins as an amusing portrayal of rural and urban culture-clash peels away layers of forgotten love and tragedy.
