National Theatre Live's sixth season continues with the highly-anticipated international broadcast of Carey Mulligan, Bill Nighy and Matthew Beard in the critically acclaimed West End production of David Hare's Skylight, directed by Stephen Daldry, tonight, October 23, 2014. Dates will vary at venues internationally and encore screenings will follow. Tony Award winning and Academy Award nominated director Stephen Daldry will be in attendance to introduce the 7:30 p.m. broadcast toay, October 23rd at New York's Beekman Theatre (1271 2nd Ave, New York, NY). SKYLIGHT opened to critical acclaim at Wyndham's Theatre on Thursday, June 18 and ran through August 23, 2014. This production will come to New York this spring when it begins performances on Broadway at the Golden Theatre on Monday, March 16. Opening night for the 13-week limited engagement is Thursday, April 2.

On a bitterly cold London evening, schoolteacher Kyra Hollis (Mulligan) receives an unexpected visit from her former lover, Tom Sergeant (Nighy), a successful and charismatic restaurateur whose wife has recently died. As the evening progresses, the two attempt to rekindle their once passionate relationship only to find themselves locked in a dangerous battle of opposing ideologies and mutual desires.

Bill Nighy, whose extensive film credits include Love Actually, Notes on a Scandal and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and whose stage roles include Pravda and the world premiere of David Hare's The Vertical Hour on Broadway, plays alongside Carey Mulligan (Inside Llewyn Davis, The Great Gatsby, An Education) who makes her West End stage debut in this production, andMatthew Beard (An Education, One Day, The Look of Love).

SKYLIGHT is directed by Academy Award-nominated director Stephen Daldry, who recently directed the sell-out West End production of The Audience with Helen Mirren, also broadcast to cinemas by National Theatre Live.

David Hare is the author of 29 plays for stage, including Plenty, Racing Demon, Amy's View, Pravda (with Howard Brenton) and Stuff Happens. His many screenplays include The Hours and The Reader. Skylight was originally produced at the National Theatre in 1995 before transferring to the West End and Broadway, and won an Olivier Award for Best Play.

Designs are by Bob Crowley with lighting by Natasha Katz, sound by Paul Arditti and music byPaul Englishby.

SKYLIGHT is produced in the West End by Robert Fox Limited and Scott Rudin. Fox produced the original West End transfer and the Vaudeville production of Skylight. He and Rudin co-produced the Broadway production.
