Molly FitzMaurice to Depart The Tank as Managing Producer

The Tank has announced that Molly FitzMaurice will depart her role as Managing Producer after four and a half years to become Festival Producer of UNDER THE RADAR. Kaaron Briscoe, a longtime Tank artist and collaborator, will join the organization as Interim Managing Producer, according to Artistic Directors Meghan Finn and Johnny G. Lloyd.

In her years at The Tank, Molly helped steer the organization through one of the most consequential chapters in its history. The Tank marked its 20th anniversary and secured the largest single grant in its history from the Mellon Foundation. Two Tank productions, Taxilandia in 2023 and Kara & Emma & Barbara & Miranda in 2025 won Obie Awards. The Tank's production of Savon Bartley's Holes in the Shape of My Father earned a 2026 Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Solo Performance. Across hundreds of premieres, Molly has championed artists with generosity, humor, and an unwavering belief in what The Tank is here to do.

"Joining The Tank team four and a half years ago was one of the luckiest strokes of my life,' said former Managing Producer Molly FitzMaurice. 'The Tank's mission is irrefutable: giving free space and resources to artists is why cool shit happens here. I am beyond grateful to have learned and grown with this organization-to have seen the annual operating budget cross $1 million for the first time in my first year and $2 million in my last. I am equally proud to have served approximately 3 million opening night empanadas. The Tank is in excellent hands: with Meghan and Johnny, with whom it's been an honor to co-lead, and now Kaaron, joining Connor, Pete, Clara, our front of house staff, tankterns, and The Tank Board, artists, volunteers, supporters, and community who keep The Tank going every day. The Tank belongs to everyone, and I look forward to holding it lightly and cheering loudly."

Kaaron Briscoe is a Brooklyn-based theater artist and creative producer. An award-winning playwright, her work has been performed in the US and internationally. A lifelong artist, Kaaron loves theater in all its forms. While working to develop new plays and musicals, she marries her extensive artistic experience with her producorial skills. A member of AEA, SAG-AFTRA, and the Dramatists Guild, she is a New Orleans native with an MFA from ART/MXAT/IATT at Harvard University. Kaaron volunteers with the 52nd Street Project and is the Board President for the Fair Housing Justice Center.

Founded in 2003, The Tank is an Obie Award-winning, multi-disciplinary non-profit arts presenter and producer, which provides a home to emerging artists working across all disciplines, including theater, comedy, dance, film, music, puppetry, and storytelling. Led by Artistic Directors Meghan Finn and Johnny G. Lloyd, The Tank champions emerging artists engaged in the pursuit of new ideas and forms of expression. In doing so the company removes the economic barriers from the creation of new work for artists launching their careers and experimenting within their art form. From the company's home with two theaters on 36th Street, The Tank serves over 2,500 artists every year, presents over 1,000 performances, and welcomes 36,000 audience members annually. Artists who have developed their craft at The Tank include Tony Award-winning director Alex Timbers, Drama Desk Award-winning playwright Amy Herzog, screenwriter Lucy Alibar, comedian/actor X Mayo, online creator Julian Shapiro-Barnum, producer Kyle Jarrow, musician Reggie Watts, comedian/writer Baratunde Thurston, choreographer Tiffany Rea-Fisher, choreographer Kyle Abraham, filmmaker Andrew Bujalski, the rock band We Are Scientists, and tens of thousands of others. The Tank has been honored with an OBIE Award for Institutional Recognition celebrating our Extraordinary Support of Emerging Artists, 6 Drama Desk nominations for our co-produced work, and an official New York City Council proclamation. Artistic Director, Meghan Finn, was the recipient of a 2024 David Prize for Extraordinary New Yorkers.

During FitzMaurice's tenure, The Tank marked its 20th anniversary, secured its largest single grant from the Mellon Foundation, and saw two productions, TAXILANDIA and KARA & EMMA & BARBARA & MIRANDA, win Obie Awards. The Tank's production of HOLES IN THE SHAPE OF MY FATHER also earned a 2026 Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Solo Performance.
