Two films have already been selected for the annual Oscar Contender Series at the Emelin, an opportunity to see some of the best films of 2017, just prior to the 90th Academy Awards. This year's picks include: Best Picture hopeful, The Big Sick, the rom-com summer box office hit and film festival darling starring Kumail Nanjiani, Zoe Kazan, Ray Romano and Holly Hunter; and Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan's World War II film which scored big with critics and at the box office, and is a potential nominee across several Oscar categories. The Emelin Theatre is equipped with stadium seating, state-of-the-art digital projection and Surround Sound, and is convenient to parking and the Metro North Mamaroneck train station. Snacks and beverages are available including beer and wine.

The award-winning Emelin Film Club begins its Winter session this January with six new, must-see independent films everyone will soon be talking about. Specially selected by David Schwartz, Chief Curator of the Museum of the Moving Image, the films vary in genre and subject matter from foreign language, documentary, drama, biopic, comedy to animated feature. Members join in an informative discussion with industry guests after each film, moderated by Mr. Schwartz. The Emelin Theatre is equipped with stadium seating, state-of-the-art digital projection and Surround Sound, and is convenient to parking and the Metro North Mamaroneck train station. SAMMY MILLER AND THE CONGREGATION
FRIDAY, JANUARY 26, 2018 @ 8PM | JAZZ | $32/$25
The GRAMMY nominated drummer and his electrifying band that's tearing up the jazz scene in New York City and all over the world, is bringing feel-good, stomp your feet jazz reminiscent of the 20's and 30's, to Mamaroneck. On their way to the Emelin, the young group will be stopping to teach a Master Class to the Mamaroneck High School Jazz Band, which will join the Congregation on stage for a portion of the show. In 2015, Lincoln Center named The Congregation an "Emerging Artist of the Year," and Vanity Fair included them in "Jazz Youth-Quake," a list of up-and-coming jazz artists. In 2017 Ars NOVA selected them for their prestigious 'Makers Lab'.
