Lauren Halsey's 'emajendat' with Erykah Badu Coming to the Hollywood Bowl
The evening will begin with community-centric activations, followed by a headline concert.
The LA Phil has added a new event to its 2026 Hollywood Bowl Season: Lauren Halsey’s emajendat with Erykah Badu on September 29. Halsey will transform the Hollywood Bowl with a campus-wide takeover featuring community-centric activations and a headline concert.
The activations will open at 6:00 PM, followed by a headline concert from Erykah Badu, DJ Pee .Wee (Anderson .Paak) and the Charles Gaines Collective featuring Black Nile at 8:00 PM.
Halsey recently opened the sculpture park "sister dreamer lauren halsey’s architectural ode to tha surge n splurge of south central los angeles" in South Los Angeles to critical acclaim. With emajendat, Halsey, a native Angeleno, aims to bring her free-flowing imagination and sense of civic urgency to the Hollywood Bowl with her latest site-specific installation.
First, concertgoers can participate in activations which include miniature golf, ping-pong and other games; Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace; airbrush stations and more. They will then proceed to Halsey’s maximalist, technicolor stage designed for Erykah Badu, DJ Pee .Wee (Anderson .Paak), the Charles Gaines Collective featuring Black Nile and special guests. Badu returns to the Hollywood Bowl after a 2025 performance with Westside Gunn, while Anderson .Paak returns to the stage for the first time since 2024 and makes his inaugural appearance at the Bowl as DJ Pee .Wee.
“Create Your Own” packages are currently available for the Hollywood Bowl 2026 summer season online here or via phone at 323 850 2000. The Hollywood Bowl Box Office opens for single-show ticket sales on May 5 at 10 AM.
