SMALL BUT AGGRESSIVE, written and performed by Denise Moses, is a multi-character, "one-widow" dark comedy, exploring grief and the loss of a spouse. Performances run Friday, June 19, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 20 at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28 at 7:30 p.m.

In the show, when Denise's ballet dancer husband, Craig is diagnosed with a "small but aggressive" brain tumor, an unwelcome guest (chain- smoking "Grief") takes up residence and refuses to leave. As "Denise" and "Grief" butt heads, the diminutive Denise finds she too can be "small but aggressive".

The show finds hilarity even in grief amid very touching and real emotion. What's so funny about grief? Turns out - a lot! It's a show for anyone who has experienced loss ... and that's just about everyone.

Denise Moses has originated roles in notable stage productions including Off-B'way's groundbreaking Tony n Tina's Wedding, the award winning They Shoot Horses, Don't They (Greenway Court Theatre), & the critically acclaimed National Tour of I Love Lucy Live On Stage. She has performed her one-woman multi-character comedy shows at over 100 venues nation-wide. Her 2018 one-woman piece, Growing up and Liking It, enjoyed an 8-week L.A. run. The New York Post said about her solo work: "...Moses is a versatile actress ... comparable to the most well-known character comedienne, Lily Tomlin..."

Also a dancer, she has performed at Pasadena Playhouse (Little Women Ballet), with Pasadena Civic Ballet (The Wizard of Oz, Giselle, Cinderella) and with Hollywood Ballet (The Nutcracker).

A native of Oklahoma City, she received a BFA in acting from University of Texas, Austin.

Ross Clark directs. His career began on Broadway when he appeared at the age of 10 opposite Jackie Gleason in Take Me Along. Ross appeared throughout his teens in national tours of plays and musical. He was the director of the Musical Theatre/Children's Theatre Ensemble at the Pasadena Civic Ballet. He is currently working with The Pasadena Playhouse and La Mirada Theatre on various projects.

Small But Aggressive is an uplifting, inspiring story of resilience in the face of deepest adversity and finding hope and joy in unexpected places.
