Less Than Rent Theatre will kick-off LTR HOUSE PARTY, a new reading series presenting bold, innovative works by emerging playwrights, with a staged reading of Jan Rosenberg's What's Wrong With You at Axis Theatre in the West Village. The reading stars Ruth Aguilar (Rancho Viejo), Amanda Brooklyn (Our Town at Green-Wood, LTR company member), Chris Brown (What Would Crazy Horse Do?), Kimber Monroe (South Pacific), Courtney Gabrielle Williams (Pussy Sludge, LTR company member), and Brandon Zelman (Woyzeck: The Human Experiment, LTR company member), directed by Scott F. Davis (Next Faggot Nation).

Jan Rosenberg is a NYC-based playwright, fiction writer, and screenwriter. She is a two-time semi-finalist for the Eugene O'Neill Conference with her plays What's Wrong With You and How To Destroy An American Girl Doll. Other plays: A Little Piece of You, Do Not Leave Unattended, Penny, Pets, TACT, and The Discarded. She is a Barefoot Theater ensemble member. She has worked with LAByrinth Theater Company, ESPA at Primary Stages, Vertigo Theater, and many more. This summer she was a guest playwright at the Last Frontier Theater Conference in Alaska. Upcoming productions: Never Have I Ever (in collaboration with The Farm Theater, West Chester University, and The University of Alabama at Birmingham). On occasion, she writes for Book Riot and Bust Magazine.

In What's Wrong With You, a group of teenagers find themselves in over their heads when a series of harmless pranks and dares meant to scare people start to escalate. The play questions the dangerous human need for attention and our desperation to connect, both online and off.

Curated by Less Than Rent Associate Artistic Director Patrick K. Dooley and Literary Manager S.P. Monahan, LTR HOUSE PARTY offers playwrights a two-week long "mini-residency," in which they have the opportunity to workshop a dynamic new work with a director and full cast, culminating in a staged reading.

Since 2010, LTR has produced twelve full-length plays, as well as numerous readings and workshops. Their work has been seen at HERE Arts Center, La Mama, 59E59, Walkerspace, Theatre Row, Horse Trade Theater Group, The Wild Project, The Brick, Theater for the New City, Dixon Place, and The Gene Frankel. In addition to multiple FringeNYC and United Solo awards and NYIT nominations, they were named Indie Theater Now's "People of the Year" in 2013.

LTR House Party's staged reading of What's Wrong With You will be performed on Monday, September 18, at 7pm at Axis Theatre (1 Sheridan Square). Admission is free.
