'In The Heights' Begins Previews Tonight; Signs with Williamson Music

In The Heights begins previews tonight, February 14, at the Richard Rodgers Theater on Broadway, and opens on Sunday, March 9.  With music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, and conceived by Lin-Manuel Miranda, In The Heights is directed by Thomas Kail and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler.  

"In The Heights is the quintessential New York musical, about a vibrant and tight-knit community at the top of the island of Manhattan. The music pulses with the hopes and dreams of three generations as they struggle to forge an identity in a neighborhood on the brink of transition," explain press notes. 

Tickets for In The Heights range from $21.50 to $111.50, and can be purchased at the Richard Rodgers Box Office or at www.ticketmaster.com. Lottery front-row tickets ($26.50) are available two-hours before curtain.

The playing schedule for In The Heights is as follows:  Tuesday - Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 7pm, with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2pm.  Added performances on Monday March 17 at 8pm, and matinees Wednesday, March 5, March 12, March19, and March 26 all at 2pm.  No performances on Sunday, March 9 at 2pm, Wednesday, March 12 at 8pm, Sunday, March 23 at 2pm and 7pm, and Sunday, March 30 at 7pm.  For more, visit www.intheheightsthemusical.com.

Williamson Music is proud to announce its immediate music publishing representation of the score of the new Broadway musical In The Heights and Lin-Manuel Miranda, as the composer, lyricist, and star.

Williamson Music is working with Miranda on a songbook for In The Heights; a Broadway original cast recording is also being planned.   The Williamson Music agreement for the music publishing of In The Heights is worldwide, with an initial five year term.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is the composer/lyricist/star of In The Heights, now playing on Broadway. Following its premiere Off-Broadway last year, In The Heights received 9 Drama Desk nominations, including Best Music, Best Lyrics, and an award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance, in addition to a Lucille Lortel Award and Outer Critic's Circle Award for Best Musical. Lin-Manuel received an Obie Award for Outstanding Music and Lyrics. He is the recipient of the 2007 Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award from the ASCAP Foundation. As an actor, he received a 2007 Theater World Award for Outstanding Debut Performance and the 2007 Clarence Derwent Award for Most Promising Male Performance, courtesy of Actor's Equity Foundation. He is a co-founder and member of Freestyle Love Supreme, a hip-hop improv group that has toured the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Aspen, Melbourne and Montreal Comedy Festivals. He also played a bellboy on The Sopranos.
