In the Heights Photos - Broadway

The 2008 Tony and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical In the Heights welcomed platinum recording artist and 2007 'American Idol' winner Jordin Sparks on August 19th, making her Broadway debut as Nina Rosario at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 West 46th Street). Sparks will play a limited 12 week engagement through Sunday, November 14, 2010. To celebrate Jordin's official opening in the show this week, Sparks and the cast of In the Heights celebrated at Angus McIndoe. BroadwayWorld brings you photo coverage of the party below.

Yesterday, September 9, the cast of Broadway's In the Heights recorded a number for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS annual Carols for a Cure Album, which features Broadway casts performing holiday standards in the style of their musical's numbers. Corbin Bleu is the first star of the popular High School Musical film franchise to hit Broadway as he steps into the role of bodega owner Usnavi in In the Heights. Bleu will remain in the show through April 25, 2010. Jordin Sparks attended the show on Friday night, February 12th and BroadwayWorld.com was there to capture her backstage! Sparks was the youngest winner ever of AMERICAN IDOL, doing so at the age of 17 for the shows' sixth season. She has since sold more than 9 million albums worldwide.

Bleu will star in the show from January 25 - April 25, 2010. Corbin Bleu starred in the Emmy-award winning Disney Channel Original Movie 'High School Musical' and its sequel, 'High School Musical 2' alongside Zac Efron, Vanessa Anne Hudgens, and Ashley Tisdale. Bleu plays, Chad , the devoted basketball player and best friend to Troy (Efron). 'High School Musical 2' premiered to 18 million viewers, making it the highest rated Disney Channel Original Movie in history and overall highest rated program in cable history.
