Merry Christmas, Broadway fans! This season's hottest Broadway album is on sale for practically a steal.
GooglePlay is selling the entire 46-song HAMILTON original Broadway cast recording for $2. For those playing along at home, that's just over 4 cents per song.
Released in September, this album has seen marked success in the non-Broadway community this year, reaching #1 on Billboard's Rap Album charts, and landed in the top 10 albums overall. In his review of the album for Billboard, Alex Gale wrote, 2015's best rap album isn't by Drake, Kendrick Lamar or Dr. Dre -- it's the cast recording of HAMILTON." Most recently, Billboard named HAMILTON the #2 album of the year.
The new musical Hamilton has book, music and lyrics by Tony and Grammy Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also plays the title role. The musical is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire. Hamilton is inspired by Ron Chernow's biography "Alexander Hamilton."
