Gibney Appoints Kevin Condardo as Inaugural Chief Operating Officer
Condardo joins Gibney after leadership roles at Park Avenue Armory, BAM, and The Public Theater.
Gibney dance company has announced the appointment of Kevin Condardo as its inaugural Chief Operating Officer, effective May 31, 2026.
Created at a pivotal moment in Gibney's evolution, the Chief Operating Officer role will help strengthen the organization's operating model, expand its earned revenue capacity, and maximize the potential of its two Manhattan facilities. The creation of the role was initiated and made possible by a first-time leadership gift from an anonymous major donor new to Gibney's donor portfolio, reflecting growing philanthropic confidence in the organization's next phase of growth.
As Gibney's first executive leader in this role, Condardo will partner closely with Founder, Artistic Director, and CEO Gina Gibney to advance financial and operational strategy across the organization. With significant earned revenue activity already embedded in Gibney's model, the COO role is designed to align financial planning, space utilization, internal systems, and mission-driven growth.
Condardo brings more than two decades of leadership experience across New York City's leading cultural institutions, with a career defined by building sustainable systems that support ambitious artistic work. Most recently, as Managing Director of The Second City New York, he oversaw a complex, multi-faceted operation spanning performances, training programs, rentals, and corporate partnerships while leading strategies to expand earned revenue and strengthen operational effectiveness. Previously, he held leadership positions at Park Avenue Armory, Brooklyn Academy of Music, The New Group, and The Public Theater, guiding financial planning, production operations, and institutional growth across organizations of varying scale and scope.
At Gibney, Condardo will oversee the operation of two Manhattan facilities encompassing 55,000 square feet of rehearsal, performance, and event space. Working across departments, he will help optimize space use, strengthen financial systems, support earned revenue growth, and foster the internal coordination needed to support Gibney's artistic, educational, community, and space-based work.
Condardo holds an MFA in Performing Arts Management from Brooklyn College, an MS in Accounting from Hunter College, and both a BS in Business and a BA in Theater from the University of New Hampshire.
"Gibney has built a remarkable model, one that brings together artistic excellence, community impact, and a substantial earned-revenue platform," said Condardo. "I'm excited to join Gina and the Gibney team at this important moment and help build on that strength. Through sharpening systems, supporting smart growth, and helping the organization make the most of its space, talent, and entrepreneurial capacity in service of artists and communities, I hope to be a useful asset in helping the organization to the next level."
"Gibney has reached a level of scale, complexity, and opportunity that calls for a dedicated operational partner at the executive level," said Gina Gibney, Founder, Artistic Director, and CEO. "Kevin brings the financial discipline, institutional experience, and entrepreneurial thinking needed to help us strengthen the model we have built and prepare for the next phase of growth. His leadership will allow us to more fully activate our spaces, support our teams, and advance the artistic and community-centered work at the heart of Gibney."
