Eve Ensler will once again monologize about female anatomy in the national tour of The Good Body; the tour will come to a number of cities both in the US and in Canada this fall and next year.

With more stops yet to be announced, The Good Body will make its way to The Ordway in St. Paul, MN, Philadelphia's Annenberg Center, Rich Forum in Stamford, CT, Charlotte, NC's McGlohan Theatre, Miami's Coconut Grove Playhouse, Raleigh, NC's Fletcher Opera House , Dallas' Majestic Theatre, Los Angeles' Wadsworth Theatre, Detroit's Music Hall, The Wonder Ballroom in Portland, OR, Seattle's Moore Theatre, Centre East in Skokie, IL, Toronto's Massey Hall, Boston's Emerson Theatre, Fort Lauderdale's Parker Playhouse, Vancouver's Vogue Theatre and Scottsdale, AZ's Center for the Arts. The Good Body will also play Atlanta, GA and Washington, D.C.; venues for those cities have not yet been announced.

Whereas Ensler's groundbreaking, Obie-winning The Vagina Monologues focused on a specific part of the female body, The Good Body is more comprehensive--it tackles body image, media-based perceptions of beauty and weight issues. As with the former, The Good Body was compiled from the interviews that Ensler recorded with women around the world, and it also features the playwright leaping from character to character (one of whom is actress Isabella Rossellini). The show, which is presented by Harriet Newman Leve, in association with Ron Nicynski, Mark Kaplan, Michele Crowley and associate producers Allison Prouty and Laura Wagner, is directed by Peter Askin (Trumbo, Hedwig and the Angry Inch).

Originating at the Seattle Repertory Theatre, The Good Body played San Francisco's American Conservatory Theatre before opening on Broadway at the Booth Theatre on November 15th, 2004. It ended its limited run on December 19th after 27 previews and 40 regular performances. Robert Brill (sets), Susan Hilferty (costume), Kevin Adams (lighting), David Van Tieghem (sound and original music), Jill B.C. Du Boff (sound) comprise the design team for the tour of The Good Body.

The Vagina Monologues has received hundreds of productions around the country and around the world since it opened off-Broadway on October 3, 1999. Running through January 26th, 2003, it originally featured Ensler. Later, dozens of theatre, film and television actresses would headline the show--among them, Carolee Carmello, Calista Flockhart, Ana Gasteyer, Gina Gershon, Julie Kavner, LaChanze, Rebecca Luker, Andrea McArdle, Idina Menzel and Phyllis Newman. Ensler's other plays include Lemonade, Necessary Targets, Floating Rhoda and the Glue Man and Ladies.
