Garrison Keillor's famed "Prairie Home Companion" show, which is broadcast on NPR, will feature a salute to Broadway musicals and stars today.

"We pulled an overnighter in the tape vault and found some BIG highlights from under the bright lights. Kristin Chenoweth sings Oklahoma!, Walter Bobbie tears into 'Alexander's Ragtime Band,' Vern Sutton and Rob Fisher offer a tribute to the Broadway Chorus, Bonnie Raitt fulfills her dream of singing the part of Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady (under the guidance of Guy Noir), and Marvin & Mavis Smiley do 'Springtime on Broadway.' Tune in Saturday for all that plus, The Royal Academy of Radio Acting, The Guy's All-Star Shoe Band, and the news from Lake Wobegon," states the "Prairie Home Companion" website.

Broadcast from the Fitzgerald Theatre in Minnesota, "A Prairie Home Companion" has been in existence for over 30 years.  "Today, 'A Prairie Home Companion; is heard by over 4 million listeners each week on over 580 public radio stations, and is heard abroad on America One and the Armed Forces Networks In Europe and the Far East.  'A Prairie Home Companion' is produced by Prairie Home Productions, and distributed nationwide by American Public Media. The program is underwritten by Toyota and Select Comfort."

A recent film based on the radio program and sharing its title was directed by the late Robert Altman.  It starred Keillor, Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Kline and Virginia Madsen, among others.
