Kim Piazza is not only a woman with great talent but a woman of class and sweetness.

She took a break from live theater ... and has been missed ... but now she is back.

You have performed many shows at Alleyway Theatre ... What is it about that theatre that keeps you coming back?

I keep coming back to Alleyway Theatre for so many reasons! Alleyway is all about new theatre, the creation and development thereof. It is truly thrilling to have the opportunity to be the first actor to sink their teeth into a role. You are actually creating the blue print for the future of a character. If an actor is doing a well know show, for example Marry Popins, there is little to no latitude given to the actor. The audience has an expectation regarding the character that MUST be met! Beyond the material itself the team at Alleyway Theatre keeps me coming back for more; Executive director Neal Radice, associate director Joyce Stilson , and associate director Todd Warfield are treasures in the Buffalo theatre community!

You haven't done much theater the last few years ... How does it feel to be back?

What if anything is different?

It really has been quite some time since I have been on stage. You want to know if it feels different. Of course it does, it's really freaking scary!!! The up side is with Neal Radice directing little has changed.

What brings you back to acting after some time off?

There are a number of factors that have brought me back. First of all timing! It is no secret that my teenage son has autism. We all know that parenting is a full time job, but parenting a child with special needs is a whole different universe. My husband and I work with AJ nonstop, and a typical theatre rehearsal schedule does not allow me the time and focus my boy requires. We need to graduate from high school you know! Killer Rack had a rehearsal schedule that landed primarily in August, before the new school year kicked. The stars aligned and I was able to make it work!

You are in rehearsals for a new show at Alleyway. What is the play about?

KILLER RACK is a world premier Feminist horror musical comedy........how's that for a mouth full? In short it's about boobs that eat people, but only the ones that deserve it! Our show walks through the absurd notion that breast implants will turn a women's life around, the idea that bigger boobs = happiness.

This new play is based on a local film. Were you on the film as well? Same part in play as the film?

KILLER RACK THE MUSICAL is based on KILLER RACK THE MOVIE. I played a handful of small roles in the movie, and sang on the original sound track. The movie is currently available on amazon. The film has screened in countries and film festivals all over the world ... and has won numerous awards?

Neal Radice wrote the stage version and is directing. Please describe his directing style and why it works for you.

Neal Radice has a directing style that is all his own. Neal teaches what he calls contingency acting. You don't learn your lines by wrote, but by understanding a character's intention. He also emphasizes the importance of actually listening to the other actors on stage, as opposed to waiting for your cue to deliver your lines.

Time to promote ... What else is coming up for you in 2017 - 2018?

What does 2017-2018 have in store for me? Well I intend to continue to sing with Serendipity Swing, a wonderful local swing band that you can find me out and about performing with.

I will be enjoying my time as a TV personality on WBBZ TV... and most important of all I will take care of my family!
