Back by popular demand, West Coast Players announce the opening of Rex's Exes, a sequel to last year's wildly entertaining, The Red Velvet Cake War. This will be the first play of 2014 for the local theater group and opening night is to be held on Friday, January 17 at 8 p.m. in the WCP theater located in central Clearwater.

A Jones Hope Wooten Comedy, Rex's Exes, is scheduled to run January 17 - February 2, 2014. Show times will be Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. with a matinee showing on Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online at www.wcplayers.org or by calling (727) 437- 2363. Prices are $17 for individuals and discounted to $15 when purchased as a group of 10 or more. All seating is reserved.

Rex's Exes will be directed by the extremely talented WCP President, Ashlie Johnson. Johnson's recent credits include The Red Velvet Cake War, Communicating Doors and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare: Abridged. Her directorial work was also recognized at the 2013 S.T.A.R. Awards, as The Red Velvet Cake War was named "Favorite Comedy". The show features a cast of 11 actors which include returning favorites as well as many new odd relatives and friends.

This deliriously funny Southern-fried farce finds the Verdeen cousins of Sweetgum, Texas, teetering on the brink of disaster again. As Gaynelle stubbornly refuses to face turning the Big 5-0, Peaches and Jimmy Wy, who is riding high on the success of her new wedding gown boutique for big gals - Wide Bride - are planning a surprise party. However, the surprise is on them when party plans shift to a quick funeral, a visit from an ex-husband come back to life, and a hostage situation involving a jilted bride. Add in Aunt LeMerle, Uncle Aubrey and the rest of their wacky friends and family and you'll find yourself hoping your next family celebration is even half this much fun.

Be sure to purchase your tickets early as seats are sure to sell out quickly for this must-see show. If you were a fan of The Red Velvet Cake War or are just looking for a hilarious night out this is one not to be missed. Again, tickets can be purchase online at www.wcplayers.org or by calling (727) 437-2363.
