Florida Studio Theatre announces that subscriptions are now on sale for the 2013-14 Mainstage Season. While most of the productions are still being considered for the season, the opening of the Mainstage will bring Monty Python's Spamalot to life in the Gompertz Theatre. It will open on November 15, 2014 and run through January 5, 2014. Subscriptions for all four shows of the Mainstage Season are available now for as little as $45 and range from $45 - $75 and can be purchased online at FloridaStudioTheatre.org, by phone at (9410) 366-9000 or by visiting the Box Office.

Artistic Director Richard Hopkins says, "Spamalot is one of the funniest pieces of Musical Comedy to come along in the last decade. The thing that impresses me most is not that the creators were true to the best of Monty Python, which they were, but what an absolutely wonderful piece of musical theatre they have created. It's rich in character, keen on action, and delightful in its execution. It's a wonderful piece of theatre."

Season opener, Monty Python's Spamalot, is a Tony Award winning musical comedy. Lovingly ripped off from the classic film "Monty Python and The Holy Grail," this outrageous parody tells the tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and has been called "Best new musical to open" by The New York Times. While embarking on their quest for the Holy Grail, the Knights encounter flying cows, killer rabbits, and taunting Frenchmen while performing heart-stopping musical numbers.

Bruce Jordan will return to direct the production. "I was very excited when FST called to see if I would direct Spamalot. I've loved that show from the first time I saw it. It's that special, elusive thing, a very entertaining musical comedy in the truest sense. It has lots of laughs and is loaded with hummable music. What a fun project to work on. I feel very lucky." Jordan returns after previously directing The Underpants, Perfect Wedding, and also FST's hit Shear Madness, on which he was the original co-producer.

Monty Python's Spamalot will open in the Gompertz Theatre on November 15, 2013 (with previews on November 13 and 14), and will run until January 5, 2014. Single tickets to this joyful joust will go on sale on September 22 and will range from $18 - $49. Season subscriptions are now on sale and can be purchased for as little as $45 and range from $45 - $75, the three other Mainstage Season shows will be announced September 22. Subscribers get all the best benefits, including preferred seating, the ability to exchange subscription tickets and a copy of our quarterly newsletter mailed directly to you, all for less than half the cost of single tickets. Subscriptions are available now online at FloridaStudioTheatre.org, in person at the FST Box Office or by calling (941) 366-9000.
