Second Plett Fringe Festival, Begins 26 June
The festival will host eight shows this year, on the following schedule.
BIG GIRLS (26 June at 8pm) follows on from the sell-out shows BIG BOYS and ASH & VAN EXPOSED. BIG GIRLS features three fabulously talented and totally over-the-top chicks who hold it together when all else fails. Hilarious and brilliant vocal acts are seamlessly strung together with absurdly appropriate narrative.
THINK TWICE (27 June at 8pm) is a show filled with psychological illusions, mind-magic, and plenty of laughs. Hailed by critics as "mesmerising" and "captivating", Brendon Peel will definitely live up to expectations.
THE TREE SHOW (28 June at 3pm) is a family theatre production. It's a wedding day. Ons trou vandag. Siyatshata
namhlanje. The importance of nature and trees in our life is beautifully portrayed as the townsfolk prepare for a wedding ceremony with singing, dancing and tree planting.
MORE HERMAN CHARLES BOSMAN STORIES (28 June at 8pm) sees David Muller return to the Plett Fringe
Festival with more Oom Schalk stories. Don't miss David's enthralling retelling of some of Herman Charles Bosman's best short stories.
MEMORY (29 June at 3pm) is the second family theatre production of the festival. Fly over Africa and you will see huge stone circles that used to be the homes of our ancestors. In the forests and on the open plains, rotten meat and bones turn to white powder. But you will never see the tusks; the elephant is still paying back its debt to men.
DIRT (29 June at 8pm) stars James Cairns in a hilarious comedy about three friends and a dog trying to get to a
funeral. The road trip in this masterful one-man show is a dazzling roller coaster of laughter.
MR JOHNSON PRESENTS... (30 June at 8pm) features award-winning cabaret artist Godfrey Johnson in his new comedy cabaret show. The evening will feature original songs about lovers, coffee, food, gym, fanatics and noses as well as works by Kurt Weill, Mozart, Tori Amos, The Sex Pistols, and an Elizabethan love song.
YOU BET YOUR LIFE! (1 June at 8pm) is a brand new musical comedy about a TV game show with a bite! The show welcomes a special guest whose heart and soul are on the line. He has just cashed in his chips! Can he convince the audience that he was a good guy? Or will he be stuck in an afterlife of TV reruns forever and ever?
