Since I attended more than 50 shows over the past eight months (a few more than once)--the large majority of which were reviewed on these web pages—I felt I had more than enough cabaret show inventory to present my second-annual “Mid-Year Cabaret Review” citing the “20 Best Cabaret Shows and Performances” for the first half of 2014. Since the eligibility period for 2014 BroadwayWorld New York Cabaret Award consideration begins with shows staged since last November (late October if it was the first of a run), I've included a few of those late 2013 shows in this group. And with the announcement of the BWW Award nominees just four months away, I've offered some projections on the Award categories for which these shows very well might receive consideration. Beginning 8 July 2014, Dominique Levy gallery will present a collaborative artists' project inspired by the work of Italian ConceptualistGiulio Paolini. Titled 'Hypothesis for an Exhibition' and curated by Begum Yasar, the project is comprised of two components: The first is an exhibition of work by Paolini and a dozen New York artists and collectives paying Tribute to his ideas. The second component is a publication designed by Studio Manuel Raeder. In addition to Paolini, participating artists include Richard Aldrich, Harold Ancart, Sebastian Black, Kerstin Bratsch, GuytonWalker, KAYA, Charles Mayton, Seth Price, Josh Smith, R.H. New York Live Arts Announces Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company's 2014-2015 Touring Season

The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, New York Live Arts' Resident Dance Company, announced today the touring programs and productions for the 2014-2015 Season. The Company will perform and conduct residencies in more than 11 cities in eight states over the next 12 months, making their debut at a number of venues across the U.S. Highlights of the 2014-2015 Season include the New York City premiere of Story/Time (35, 36, 37 & 38) November 4 - 8 and 11 - 15 on the Company's home stage at the New York Live Arts theater; the world premiere of Analogy (working title) in June 2015 at Montclair State University; the Company debut at Dancers' Workshop in Jackson Hole, Wyoming; and more.
