Dusty, a multi-media show celebrating the musical icon Dusty Springfield, is currently playing at London's Charing Cross Theatre, and according to the Stage, the show is experiencing some drama both on and offstage. The musical, which was originally slated to have a press night on June 3, has been in previews since May 25. In the coming weeks, five actors will have left the production due to 'unrest' and 'unhappiness.' An additional four dancers have been altogether removed from the production.  (more...)

Underground International Voices of Theatre and The O'Neill Film and Theatrical Foundation announced today that 'That Queer Blind Silence' by Sophia Romma, directed by John Beshaw-Farrell, which was scheduled to premiere at 13th Street Repertory Theater, NYC from August 5 to 23, has been canceled. The Producers decided that the play, a work of staccato verse to be performed in the style of Russian Expressionism, would profit by further development before opening for its world premiere run. A mash-up of THE BAD SEED, GYPSY, ALL ABOUT EVE, plus the films of Douglas Sirk and John Waters!" Book and lyrics are by Joel Paley with music by Marvin Laird. The Los Angeles LGBT Center and Sixth Avenue have announced the West Coast premiere of Hit the Wall by Ike Holter. This acclaimed play brings audiences into the famed 1969 Stonewall riots, credited historically as the beginning of the modern LGBT rights movement. Directed by Ken Sawyer with a cast of 10, a live three-piece band, and original music by Anna Waronker (former singer for That Dog) and Charlotte Caffey (guitarist for The Go-Go's), Hit the Wall will play three previews on September 15, 16, and 17, and opening is set for Friday, September 18 at 8pm. Hit the Wall will run through October 25 in the Davidson/Valentini Theatre.
