BWW Review: OYE MI CANTO a Thrilling Show for GMCLA
by Don Grigware - Jun 29, 2016

GMCLA never disappoints. Their summer concert Oye Mi Canto, which took place at the Alex Theatre Saturday June 25 and Sunday June 26 featured the small Gay Men's Chorus of Cuba Mano a Mano whose singing skill and artistry blew the roof off the Alex Theatre in Glendale. Combined with GMCLA, the Latin sounds were rhythmic to the point of heart-pounding and oh so moving in every way. This is the first time the five men chorus have performed outside of Cuba on tour, and their very presence with GMCLA shows the mission of Gay Men's Choruses everywhere to come together in unity to champion the causes of gay men worldwide, especially in light of the horrific Orlando, Florida massacre two weeks ago. It's hard to beat Latino rhythms. They pull you in and make you move and groove to the (more...)

Author and Iraq War Veteran Pen New Novel
by BWW News Desk - Jun 27, 2016

The Ancient forces that govern the heavens above, and The Earth below, are dying. A malevolent force has been locked away. But the hands of evil are reaching far and wide destroying the balance of all existence. Given all the tools to succeed, can an outcast find the purpose to save everyone who's turned their back on him, and heal a broken past? The only way to find out will be to read the latest novel by Elijah Pepper. But who is Elijah Pepper? Pepper was born in San Diego to a mother with the foresight to teach him to read well before kindergarten. Reading let him explore the world long before he could step on a plane. At the age of eighteen Pepper joined the United States Army, following a family tradition as well as paying for college. It was while attending college he was recalled to Iraq, where his writing truly began to blossom, his time in Iraq would also fundamentally change his life for good and for ill. Shortly after returning from Iraq, Elijah Pepper suffered from a break down. Like many returning veterans he had developed PTSD from his experiences. His refusal to acknowledge them finally came to a head, hitting him hard. Elijah Pepper spent nearly a year homeless, though he never lost hope. He worked hard and managed to get back on his feet. So when PTSD once again reared its ugly head he was ready and channeled everything into his writing. For some people writing may be a passion, for Pepper it is a passion and a life saver. All of this, and more, can be seen in the Sacra Mage series. For more information about Elijah Pepper check out his website at, or his Facebook at To aid Elijah Pepper in his journey as an author check out his Patreon, (more...)
