Leonidas Kavakos To Make Conducting Debut, 10/20

In his first appearances as The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence, violinist and conductor Leonidas Kavakos will make his Philharmonic conducting debut leading and performing J.S. Bach's Violin Concerto in D minor (reconstructed), BWV 1052, and conducting Busoni's Berceuse elegiaque and Schumann's Symphony No. 2. Musicians Mobilise Against TTP with Free Concert

On Friday, October 7th, as part of the nationwide Rock Against the TPP tour, prominent musicians will lead the charge in mobilizing to raise awareness about the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), an unpopular deal that has been a contentious issue in the 2016 election. The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and the Cincinnati Pops announced highly-anticipated international tours to Asia in March of 2017 with six performances in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Taiwan, as well as the CSO undertaking an extensive, eleven-concert tour across Europe over three weeks in August and September. 9/11 TABLE OF SILENCE Returns to Lincoln Center

Artistic Director Jacqulyn Buglisi and Buglisi Dance Theatre are honored to be welcomed back by Lincoln Center for a sixth presentation of the transcendent  '9/11 Table of Silence,' a public performance tribute to 9/11 and prayer for peace and healing, conceived and choreographed by Jacqulyn Buglisi.  The tribute will take place Sunday September 11, beginning at 8:15 AM and concluding at 8:46 AM, the moment when American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower.  Buglisi was inspired to create the 9/11 Table of Silence by Italian visual artist Rossella Vasta's sculptural installation of 100 ceramic plates that represent a banquet table uniting humanity.   Given the unrelenting and tragic acts of terror and violence that continue in the world,  '9/11 Table of Silence' remains as relevant and timely today as when it was first performed six years ago at Lincoln Center.   (more...)
